First let me say that the food is great;and the people who work there are ok. It was Sunday evening at 7:15 and they had stopped making deliveries. 7:15 pm! This is not the first time on Sunday that they have done this. About 5 times they have given differentlame excuse why they could'nt deliver. Today they said they did not have enough fish for either deliveries or take out. If this happenes once it would be no big deal. But it is a pattern. A wise business man would just order more fish for Sunday..They do not do this. It's a shame. The quality of their food is great but this not being able to make deliveries on Sunday's,stinks. It would be different if they were the only Sushi place on the upper east side;but as you are all aware that is not the case. I called Haru; no problems with delivery and the food is wonderful. In closing; for a great sit down dinner Sushi of Gari is very good; but don;t enjoy it too much because you will never be able to get Sunday delivery service.

This restaurant is one of a kind in terms of quality. any piece of fish you order will be the best that has ever melted in your mouth. the price is astronomical so be forewarned, but anything in this world that is this exquisite has a price. if you love sushi, do yourself a favor, work an extra job if you have to, but go to this hole in the wall gem at least once.

I'd never tried a high-end sushi bar omakase before and wondered if I would regret holding the bill at the end and leave hungry and pissed. I have never spent so much in my life on sushi, but as a picky person, I can honestly say it was totally worth it. I can't even describe how each piece was literally a subtle, unique flavor gem. I've never tasted anything so perfect in my life. I even went overbudget because I was hooked and I couldn't stop. IMO, worth the hype and is at least worth it once in your lifetime. I don't know what the naysayers are talking about. I'm spoiled for life.

Sushi of Gari, is one of those places that due to their true understanding of fish and quality, they are able to take it to another level. Though pricey, the only way to eat here is at the sushi bar and to have the omakase menu. They feed you until you say stop, so the price is par for the course. But each fish is enhanced with an accessory or a sauce that makes it experimental and delicious. This is certainly worth it for the adventurous type

Honestly, one of the best sushi fusion meals I have ever had. I felt the price was on par with the quality. I am excited to make my next reservation! Definitely a worthwhile experience, especially for the adventurous sort that prefer sitting at the bar - a truly exceptional treat. From the toro with tofu sauce to the sauteed sea urchin - it is a meal to die for.

It is by far the best sushi north of 72nd. Omakase is the best way to go because you get the chef's most special pieces. You seriously cannot go wrong at this place no matter what you order. The downside is that the ambience is not very good mostly due to the size of the space-it's tiny. There is absolutely nowhere to stand if you have a to wait for a few minutes which is always the case.

If you want to spend 200+ for a meal for two I would recommend other sushi places in this city. Don't get me wrong, the Sushi is innovative but very overpriced. The ambience is very average and so is the service.
