The Sushi here is utterly incredible! Let the chef select your meal, and let your taste buds reach nirvana. Try the shrimp tempura roll, which is nothing like you've ever had before. Prepare to wait, even if you have reservations, but it is Sooooo worth it!!

Sushi of Gari epitomizes the idea that sushi is a form of [food] art. The chief?s choice ? the thing to get, are pieces of sushi (usually 8-10 pieces) and a roll that the chief creates for you, depending on how much specify you want to spend ($50 minimum/person and up). Although the chief?s choice is pricey, it?s more of an experience than just a good sushi meal because each piece is carefully created as a tasting experience. It?s definitely recommended to make a reservation on the weekends, since it?s difficult walk-in and get a table. Although the wait staff is not personable, the service is more efficient-like. If you don?t want to spend $50/more for the chief?s choice, I would recommend getting a bunch of rolls (i.e. yellowtail & scallion, spicy shrimp tempura, fried oyster roll) because they have the best rolls in NY.

The tasting menu at the sushi bar is a unique experience. The chefs talk with (a little) and make you unique pieces of sushi that are dfifferent every time. They will just keep making it until you say "enough" (fortunately you will have no idea how much all of this costs until you are done). Well worth, I have gone back a number of times, and recommend it as the best of its type perhaps in all the U.S.

Kind of pricey, but worth it. Very creative sushi concoctions. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired - cramped, loud, crowded. Not easy to get a table, but well worth it despite the crowd. Great Sushi
