Good food, poor service and not-worth-it prices
Went to Sushi of Gari 46 for lunch today with 2 friends. We ended up requesting the menu for 3-4 times, and even then we were not given all the options (which we finally managed to get). The food was good, but it is not worth what they charge for it. After having a $250 dollar lunch for 3 people (including sake + dessert), we were basically kicked out of the restaurant 45 minutes after sitting down and before being able to finish our drinks. I understand they have shifts and a schedule to maintain (which we were not told before sitting); but I do not understand why they need to make it this uncomfortable for their guests to sit at a table for 10 more minutes after paying for the food and done requesting service from the staff. I find the service very rude for a restaurant of this price range. I am not going back there; I'd rather spend the money elsewhere for better service and potentially better food.

Subpar service.
After making an OpenTable reservation in which they require a credit card number even for 2 people, the abysmally rude host denied that we had a reservation and said they were full, even though the restaurant was empty. A Japanese couple came in behind us and did not have a reservation, yet were seated immediately in the dining room. I would review the food if they had let us dine, but I will never patronize either of their restaurants again because of this horribly offensive service.

Don't get delivery
The sushi is overpriced and it isn't as high end as they seem to think it is. Also, the delivery is awful, takes more than a hour. I ordered once and was dissapointed in how long it took. Figured I would give them another shot and it took even longer. If my company wasn't paying for the meal, I would have ordered from someplace else.

Overpriced
This is a decent creative sushi place. But I really don't understand their sake menu. 1 glass for $15 for this recession time.

Excellent Japanese Cuisine in Midtown
It was really nice to find such a quality Japanese restaurant in the Theater District. I have lived here for 2.5 years and have been looking for sushi of this caliber. It's not only their sashimi that shines...i had a seaweed salad that is out of this world. Try it even if you don't think you like seaweed. A problem did come up during our dinner last night, and after some back-and-forth with the manager it was resolved adequately. Looking forward to coming back!

Nothing special
Good food, good service, nice place, but not worth the price. The sushi was definitely fresh and tasted great, but there was nothing out of the ordinary at Gari 46. The only way I'd go back is if I wanted to spend $85 on the omakase tasting menu. Otherwise, your money is better spent at Morimoto, which offers the best value in Manhattan.

Not so into Customer Service
The food here is excellent. It's not cheap though, and one would expect a certain level of service from a nice sushi place. They are unwilling to accomodate requests and substitutions (such as replacing a spicy tuna roll with a tuna avocado roll, which is available a la carte or serving the mochi ice cream with two flavors instead of three), which is okay if that is their policy and philosophy, but it seems to be arbitrarily enforced and the reasoning behind it is that they have premeasured/prepackaged portions for everything, which makes no sense since all the sushi is prepared fresh. Further, the servers were unwilling to go the extra mile to remedy the situation by offering an alternative (i.e., bringing some avocado on the side or suggesting that I order another roll a la carte even). Service in the other locations is much better - maybe just little repeat business in the middle of Times Square because of the tourism...
