    Sorry but...

I don't think the sushi here is very good. Mean pieces, poorly made, and just too expensive for what it is. I thought the service was sweet and I liked the music, but I'll head back to the E Village for my mediocre sushi fix.

Ain't the place to go for sushi

Went there for early dinner. My advice: don't. They must serve remainders as their first servings, because the tuna was clearly unappetizing. The hamachi was excellent as was the salmon, but the nigiri tuna and the rolls with tuna were clearly tainted. There is no excuse for this, especially at these prices. Stay away.

    Excellent West Village Sushi

Fresh. Flavorful. Inexpensive. Love this neighborhood spot!

    Good Neighborhood Sushi

I recently moved out of the neighborhood and have found myself missing this go-to sushi spot. The rolls are fabulous, and it is the only sushi place where my husband can make a meal out of a sushi roll combo (the "mambo combo" is his favorite). This is not the best sushi I've ever had and the restaurant is not the most beautiful, but it is never disappointing and has become a tried and true favorite. We now find ourselves walking the 20 minutes across town just to relax and have a nice dinner. To respond to some of the other postings, I have always found the staff to be extremely pleasant and accomodating (I was shocked to see comments to the contrary).

Go If You Like Rude Treatment

It's an average place with average food so one would at least hope for decent service but that's not the case. Multiple experiences have only resulted in seemingly stressed wait staff who are abrupt and "bothered".

    Delicious and nice!

Sushi Mambo is one of the greatest sushi restaurants in the village and soho. The review about the fish not being fresh is stupid. Sometimes fish isnt the freshest it can be, but thats one experience and no reason to see the restaurant in that way. Everytime I have ever gone, which is about 5 times a month, the fish is delicious and wonderful. :)

    Not recommended

I have no idea where all the good reviews came from, may be they have changed the chef since, but this place is not good. We ordered a variety of sushi and it was not fresh and not tasty and we were here on Tuesday, so they have no excuse of a weekend. It's a lot below average tasting sushi. Cooked food is just tolerable and nothing spectacular.
