Fresh/Meaty pieces of fish
my boyfriend and i went here on a whim after quickly searching for sushi places on the UWS. on menupages it said this place was called new yoshi and so when we got there we were a bit disappointed that it was under new management, but then the food/service surprised us. i've never seen sashimi and fish in the rolls portioned so generously. the meat was succulent and had a big bite to it. we also got one of their speciality rolls: godzilla. it was divine! overall, we are so happy we came across this restaurant and now it's quickly become one of our faves...

What happened to REAL ginger dressing????
I came to this Sushi Hana thinking to avoid the lousy ginger dressing that has become unfortunately too common in the majority of Japanese Restaurants today in NYC. I've lived in the city for 30+ years and have eaten at countless Japanese restaurants over that time, so I do know the difference. Ginger dressing can be totally amazing when made appropriately. And it so totally disappointing to see the mockery substitute that is now being served. Sushi Hana on the EAST side used to have one of the best ginger dressings (and hopefully they still do - have to check again). BUT the west side location has the horrible kind in comparison and I was fooled in going there. If you don't believe me about the amazing difference in dressing and would like proof of what I am talking about just try for instance the house salad at Kodama's in the 40s west side. Kodama's dressing is SO unbelievably good you can eat it almost like a fine soup! Hopefully Sushi Hana's on the east side still has REAL dressing. And I hope the owner of the west side location reads this feedback to address this.

You Pay For What You Get...
and what you get is consistently great fish, fast delivery, and friendly service. I typically order delivery and love that they have the system that stores all your information. Just give ‘em your phone number and order and your Sushi night is on its way. The Lower-UWS is kind of strapped for good delivery, but I’ve found my sushi place!

Sticks in my mind worth the trip.
I have gone here more times then I can count with all types of people, it is a great place to relax and really ENJOY eating some quality sushi and I am not a sushi fan their chicken teriyaki however u spell it is SO GREAT lean chicken breast with a light sauce. I only eat California rolls and theirs are great, their portions are normal, they have polite staff they are clean, nice clean bathroom and although their bartender may have no clue what drink u asked for lol you tell her what to put it in they give u a heavy handed chocolate martini........they just are the really a great place to go with friends, girlfriends or a boyfriend/girlfriend and you can sit and EAT and RELAX ..the corner booth is the best to hang out in and their mint icecream served in a martini glass...small portion but a delightful meal....normally for two or three of us and tons of food drinks and dessert 90 to 180 I mean its so worth it...we drink like fish here u don't need to bc the bartender makes a good strong drink no watered down here.

Favorite Sushi Place on the UWS
I agree with the last reviewer. The bento box there is really good and so much food. I like how they get the dumplings crispy. They also make all my rolls with brown rice which is hard to find. I am always confused as to why the place isn't crowded. I guess there are just too many sushi places in the area. But this is my favorite because of the brown rice. And also the lettuce in their house salad is actually a dark, healthy lettuce, not the white stuff you get in most places. The other night my friend got a shrimp tempura roll and it was sooo good I am going to order one now for pick up (with brown rice of course)

best bento box lunch in the city?
I haven't had a better bento box than Sushi Hana's. Have you? The staff is as courteous and attentive as you'll ever see big kudos on service.
