This place gets such glowing reviews from other ratings websites. In actuality, its really nothing special. Just ate here, it was nearly empty on Friday night. Fish was nothing special. Sushi was totally overpowered with wasabi. Will not be back.

Sat at the bar, and can confirm that it's $30 a head there, but that's actually pretty easy to hit if you have anything to drink. The restaurant has that typical blond wood atmosphere, but what's important is the excellent, fresh fish that stands alone. A nice touch is that the sushi chef provided a hint of sauce for each fish that accentuates the particular flavor of that fish.

I am a regular customer of sushi-ann, and everytime I come I always enjoy it. There is delicious and fresh fish every day. The employees are so nice and the restaurant's atmosphere is delightful. I really enjoy my experiences there, and you will too!

Well, overall I thought that it was very good. We ordered some miso soup, which was excellent, and then a bento box of sushi, which was very good but not the best. The quality is excellent, but the sushi is not that creative. We requested to sit at the Sushi Bar instead of a table, but they said we had to spend $30/person, which we weren't sure we would spend, but we did anyways... that started the evening off on the wrong foot, I would have liked to sit at the bar, no one was sitting there anyway. The atmosphere is pleasant, out waiter was very nice and the service was fast. Overall... I enjoyed it, a lot, but there are too many other places in NYC to call it one of the best. I might go back, but I think I would rather try other places.

I am happy to report that Sushi Ann has solved the problem that hotelie73 experienced on his visit - (see 12/ 15/04 review below). Sushi Ann seems to have reduced the size of each sushi and sashimi serving by 50%, so hotelier73 shouldn't be concerned about the restaurant running out of fish. Assuming that Sushi Ann's "conservation" efforts continue, there is no question that they will drive away previously loyal customers who decide that a noticeable 50% reduction in the serving size of each piece of fish is offensive -- a rip off! Note: Upon complaining, the staff did give us a complimentary fruit platter -- it contained pieces of melon and papaya that were the size the sushi should have been! Thanks, Sushi Ann for the great meals of the past. Unfortunately, we won't be back. There are too many great sushi restaurants in NYC to return to Sushi Ann.

Had a wonderful dinner at the sushi bar. The o-toro lightly seared with lemon and the bonito in ponzu sauce was simply delicious. The seafood were all very fresh. I'll be back again soon.

...very fresh, very best sushi and sashimi that is over-priced for the paper-thin portions, presented by pushy and constantly selling wait staff who are eager to turn over the table for another patron on an expense account, this is your place!
