best takeout tuna I've ever had..
I know this place is small because I walk by a lot, usually to the place next door. Had the shrimp tempura and tuna roll last night, really the freshest tuna I've ever had takeout. Great small place in the neighborhood, just what we needed.

Fresh- Fast- Reasonable Prices
The sushi is fresh and reasonably priced. If you want extravagent rolls go elsewhere, but if you are looking for basic sushi that is fresh this is the place! Great for lunch.

Best in the Area...
Try to find another sushi spot in the area where they make your food right in front of you. it is amazingly fresh and NOT so bland... so far my coworker and i are impressed. :)

Skip if you are maki fan
This review is for the take-out restaurant. I've had their maki rolls at least in three occasions and it always fails to impress me - the taste is bland. I usually order shrimp, avocado crab and vegetable combination since I'm not a big fan of raw fish but they about 16 special maki combinations in their menu for those who are real fans.

Disappointed
I went to the take out part of this restaurant at 22 Maiden Lane and I thought the quality of the food was very poor especially for the money. Maybe the restaurant is better but i do not recommend the take out at all.

Can't even get fried noodles right
I work in the Financial District and usually go elsewhere for Japanese food, but they don't have yakisoba (fried noodles) there so I ended up ordering it from here. What I got made me question what kind of "Japanese restaurant" this is - maybe it's because the term "yakisoba" is misleading? But it's such a basic dish - think Chinese food and fried rice - that I can't see how you can go wrong making it. Perhaps it won't taste as "good" or it'll use additional ingredients, but each chef has their own style...but at the very least, use the CORRECT TYPE OF NOODLES. Yakisoba, regardless of the fact that "soba" is part of the name, is NOT made with Soba Buckwheat noodles. So I ended up with soggy pan fried buckwheat noodles and am extremely disappointed. The fact that they don't even know what type of noodles to use for a common noodle dish makes me hesitant about ordering from here ever again the next time I want actual non-sushi/sashimi Japanese food (no, I don't eat only sushi and sashimi when I go out for Japanese I like all kinds of Japanese food). I haven't tried their sushi/sashimi, but I'm hoping that they at least won't go wrong with that.
