yes yes yes
taste is simple, but spot on light, fresh perfection whether pasta, salad, sandwich, pastry value incredible i just had a scrumptious, complete, perfectly portioned breakfast for $5 everything on drink menu is solid (afraid of diner coffee and overpriced iced teas? this is the place) splurge for just-squeezed oj; divine. icing on cake: supporting a local small business, not a chain will go back and back and back

A jewel
The food is delightfully varied (savoury and sweet) and all of it simply deliciousmost everything is made from scratch. I find it an ideal place to come with your laptop and get work done as the music is just right and there are lots of outlets. The service is impeccable....genuinely nice people. If I lived closer I'd go every day!

Just received delivery and....
it was subpar. The chicken in my chicken caesar wrap was low-quality. The dressing was bland. The french onion soup and the biscuits were tasteless. Also, the biscuits had an odd consistency. However, the potato leek soup was pretty tasty. The hot soup was delivered in a paper container which was soaked through and wilting. The fruit crumble was missing the crumble. It was mushy fruit crammed into a plastic container.

Love this place
My family frequents this cafe and we love it. The food is always good, the prices are very reasonable, we love the outdoor seating in season and although the inside can be crowded, it has a very warm, cozy, neighborhoody feel. We enjoy the breakfasts, burgers, chicken cacciatore, wraps, smoothies, coffees, and salads.

don't let a few bad ones deter you!
i've read a couple of so-so and bad reviews about this place and i feel the need to come in and defend it! i've been coming here for years, it's an AMAZING neighborhood gem with homemade soups, pastries, delicious sandwiches, great coffee, what could be my favorite scone in new york (cranberry & mixed berry), and the best waffles, pancakes, and oatmeal around! i know it may sound like i work there or something, but i just love sunburst. i will admit i have had one or two occasions with unhelpful staff, but that hasn't been for a long time. i find them extremely helpful. i have a DEATHLY ALLERGY to almonds and go into anaphylactic shock if i eat them and sunburst has always gone out of there way to make sure anything i eat doesn't go anywhere near them. give this place a chance and you shouldn't be disappointed.

not good
My veggie burger was freezing cold and tasted disgusting. Nevertheless I stupidly went back two more times thinking the baked goods and smoothies would be better. Wrong, and wrong again! I have never been so disappointed by a cupcake.

Really disappointed
I was SO hungry and needed something really satisfying for lunch. After literally spending about 40 minutes browsing menus online, I decided to order breakfast food from Sunburst. What I ordered: Eggs scrambled with cheese, rye toast, a side of sausage, a flavored cappucino. What I got: ONE egg (not scrambled - just cooked and folded, and not with my cheese, which they charged me extra for) (it looked like an egg in an airline meal), a sausage patty, home fries that were clearly made this morning (they occupied more of the container than the rest of the food) one piece of unbuttered, hardened rye toast, and a barely mediocre coffee drink that was clearly made with hot water and some mix. I was going to call and complain but I was so hungry that I had to eat anything. But really, I'm never ordering from here again.
