these are a few of my favorite things
... I simply remember to whisk myself away on Sunday morn to Sullivan Diner.... and then I don't feel so bad. And as far as I'm concerned, all Sundays should start with an extra spicy bloody mary. Another favorite thing is the omelets. Often omelets can be dry and boring, and frankly, bouncy- right?! They wiggle and jiggle like a piece of rubber. Well, these don't! They're fluffy!.. and soft.. and filled with fresh veg or pesto... ou comme tu veux. There's a French twist here, another favorite thing! An American diner with a little French peck on the cheek.

Food is Hit or Miss, Wish it was Better!
I've been to Sullivan Diner dozens of times over the last few years. I also live nearby, so they deliver to me on an almost weekly basis. I am a vegetarian and I love their vegetarian BLT, their egg dishes, and their granola yogurt organic breakfast. However, the food is hit or miss - and sometimes it misses very badly. I want to like the restaurant more, and I want to be able to recommend it to people. It is a nice little place to grab breakfast. But in the end, I can only recommend the veggie BLT, the eggs, and the granola/fruit. I've tried other things, hoping for the best. The waffle and the pancakes are bland and diner-food tasting. The side of fresh fruit - for 5 bucks - was tiny, and the fruit was old. Their "Dutch pancakes" are really the worst of the lot...They are actually crepes, but they are the greasiest most awful crepes one could possibly imagine. They were dripping in liquid butter, with no flavor at all. I tried three different types over the last year, and every time - awful. My friend liked his mac n' cheese, but my sister hated her salmon dish. Another friend said the burgers were terrible. I commend Sullivan Diner for making excellent veggie bacon, that they use in their veggie BLT. But they need to shape up the rest of their menu, so they stick around for a long while.

Dutch Pancakes should be renamed Crepes
I looked forward to trying their Dutch pancakes, and ordered the Dutch lemon pancakes. It turned out to be an oily, giant paper-thin crepe--not a good deal for $7. (I was expecting thick pancakes). I recommend ordering something else. The atmosphere is good, and the staff is friendly.

Great Experience
My partner and I ate here about two weeks ago and had a wonderful meal. Not only was the food delicious, the atmosphere was very upbeat. I can't wait until the warmer weather comes so we can dine outside. I also can't wait to go back and sample the brunch menu. The staff had a real understanding of "service". They showed up when they should and gave you some space when they should. I am going back with some friends next time so we can try more food!

Cozy and Off the Beaten Path
I really enjoyed my meal in this very cozy diner that is more like a small restaurant. Great atmospherecalmnot your usual "dinery" hustle and bustle. The menu has well-chosen select items, not a million and one choices. Excellent choice if you want an intimate, homestyle, out of the way NYC dining experience.

Not my first time here....
Ive known this place for years, its been called a few different names over the years. NL,BoCal, and something else before that. Its been Sullivan Diner for the past few years now, but w ith a different owner since a few months ago. The menu pretty much stayed the same, but the food has gotten much more elevated since they have a real Chef now. They redid the wine list, pretty exstensive for such a small place, good prices, and a nice selection to choose from. Compared to what they used to serve, i will now actually order a bottle. A few new apps and mains appear, but the old American Standards are still here, and definetly brought up a notch. Really good burgers, Mac and Cheese, Pot Pie. brunches are busy, and they now have a really nice outdoor seating area. Ive had their breakfast many times over the years, but enjoy it now much better that the place was renovated. Something about eating Blueberry panckes on crushed red velvet makes me want to have another Mimosa!!! Overall, a vast improvement compared to the old diner.

A great find
Definitely a new favorite of ours. Finally gave it a try after walking past and looking in several times and were very glad we did. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff gave us a good impression right away. The food was very good and prices were not unreasonable. Will certainly return to this great find.
