I was told I should expect a 30-45 min wait which turned out to a hour and 20 min wait, I watched guest come in sit theirselves and recieve services while I continued being patient waiting for the hostess to seat me but she was too busy running in and out of the building to use her cellphone after finally being seated the server didn't introduce himself and it took us a whole hour to get drinking water which we got after eating dinner he wasn't attentive at all gave us our food and never came back to make sure everything was ok ,

I am a usual Saturday patron I enjoy the good food, great drinks, atmosphere, and the pleasant staff. It is a very very busy place on the weekends. But I dont mind crowds and being around good people. Love the wings.

I have never been to a restaurant that was able to balance such superbly good food with such superbly bad service. C'mon Sugarcane really? and its not like the owners are not likable but the staff is either stressed out or just not good! I understand the place is small, the wait is long but I do not mind, but dont be rude to me on top of that? The waiters are better then the waitresses, but still vague and slow, the waitresses have attitudes, the bartenders look annoyed, but to their credit, somehow the food is incredibly good, and drinks really tasty...but then the nerve to force an 18% gratuity in the bill...Ill probably go back but unless the send this staff to train with Trader Joe's staff, ill never tip!

Its crazy u really wanna luv Sugar Cane but everytime I decide to take that major step - they mess up! If its not drinks then its the food if its not the food then its the drink. If its not the food or drink then its the bill. If its none of the above then its the uncomfortable wait. There's just always an issue. So fustrating cause u want to luv em

I've never visited Sugarcane for the warm and fuzzy service; it has never existed. That said, the food was once enough to lure me back to experience the punishment doled out by the staff. Where else would you go, and have the staff (especially the bartenders) force you to take control of your dining experience? I've sat and watched them communicate via grunts and nods of the head: Who does that? Is the clientele not worthy of communication? About two weeks ago is when I decided that enough is enough. On top of the indifferent and sometimes rude staff, I was served a red snapper that was so not fresh; I could smell that it wasn't fresh as it was placed in front of me. Anyhoo, I replaced it with oxtails, a dish that was once stellar at this place, but one that I could only pretend to enjoy on this particular evening. Sugarcane, you need to get it together, and stop taking your patrons for granted.

Everything that I've tasted from Sugarcane was amazing! I highly recommend the macaroni pie, callaloo, and oxtail. The sorrel martini is potent, yet delicious. The space is pretty small. There is only one table to seat large parties. Even if you have a reservation, you have to wait for the seated group to finish. If you go in a weekend, don't wait until you are starving (just in case you have to wait a while). It's dim and each table has a candle. Great music, and interesting photos on the walls. The bathroom is pretty cool.
