Yummy!
I love these cupcakes! I will agree that the red velvet does need a cream cheese icing, but other than that these are perfection. Love the lemon and pumpkin cupcakes, and I find myself dreaming of these little delights. My waisteline may start expanding since I now live so close by. Also, the staff is friendly and they make a mean mocha that's not too sweet.

Avoid the Red Velvet
I tried the vanilla, the lemon and the red velvet cupcakes. One thing that bothered me was that they were all different sizes. The plain vanilla cupcakes were huge, but the red velvet was teeny tiny. It doesn't seem like they use the same pans to make the different flavors. Avoid the red velvet, unless you feel like eating a stick of butter on your cake. The lemon was good, but buttercup is definitely better.

Hmm
I went all the way to LES just to try these. Love Buttercup's cupcakes, but these had no taste, and were nothing special. They butcher the red velvet with a whip creme icing instead of cream cheesey like frosting...try if you want, but i wouldn't recommend. Place itself is cute and quaint

Whats the big deal?
After reading all the reviews here i decided to check out this bakery today. i ordered the pumpkin, coconut, and sexy red velvet cupcakes. whats the big deal? the cakes were moist (as should be EXPECTED) but completely devoid of any real flavor. the frosting on the coconut and the red velvets were normal ...the only good thing i have to say is the frosting on the pumpkin cupcake was delicious! i would definitely not go back nor recommend this place to anyone. better to bake your own cupcakes at home.

Holy cupcakes!
Because I'm in the neighborhood and I read some reviews here, I thought I would march on down and give these cupcakes a try. I have no words to describe how good they were. All I can say is my friend and I started laughing hysterically when we put them in our mouths. Why? Because they are so delicious they actually make you giddy!

Great cupcakes!
Great cupcakes! I don't think I've ever had any that taste as good as these.

Best Cupcake Bar None
I always laugh when I see the huge lines outside of Magnolia. Tourists waiting for mostly average cupcakes? Why not head over to Rivington and the relatively empty space of Sugar Sweet Sunshine? Sugar Sweet's pistachio cupcake is my favorite, followed closely by the pumpkin. The red velvet is good although sometimes it is a little dry. They have several other good desserts (cakes and such), but the cupcakes are the reason to come. For under $5.00, you can get 2 cupcakes and a cup of coffee. Sit back on the rickety circa 1960 furniture, enjoy a taste of heaven and watch the passing Toys in Babeland shoppers and try to guess what they have in their black bag.
