Food Service Too Slow
I was at the Sugar Bar with two of my friends last week. We were seated in the back of the restaurant and was asked to sit at a small table that would normally sit 2 people. Our waiter was great, just was very busy with other patrons. We waited almost an hour after ordering to receive our food. We also notice that people who ordered after us received their food before we did. Will go back again to check out the show but not sure about the dinner, unless the service has improved.

I Absolutely Love The Venue
Ashford and Simpson's Sugar Bar was recommended to me by a close friend of mine that has been raving about it. I've decided to give it shot and book the venue for my 30th birthday. I had a liittle concerned that because of the large number of guests that was attending that it may not be well coordinated. I am also very picky though. From the second I've called to the day of my party, I was taken care of like royalty. The whole staff from front to back did an incredible job to cater my needs especially knowing that some of my guest were not easily manageable. The food was great and the show was amazing. The manager (Steve Abreu) was checking on us to ensure that everything was going well. The whole know went so smoothly with no issues at all. We left happy and this is definetely a venue that my guests and I are planning to attend many times in the near future. Bravo to Ashford and Simpspon!

1/2 & 1/2
1st the good news... priceless soul music, great personalities, warm vibe... and then there's the restaurant side of the equation... damn, they can't get this together. We've had forgotten orders, then had ALL I mean ALL the food arrive at once---nothing for over 1/2 an hour and then bread, butter, appetizers, main courses all at once -- just a joke! We've eaten there 3 or 4 times and there's always some problem; I've had the completley oversalted dish and the cold overcooked steak etc. I still go thurs. nights I just eat first.

Exquisite Dining!
From the warm welcome received from the hostess with a cute accent , our prompt services provided by the staff added to the lovely ambiance coupled with a delicious and well-prepared meal make for a perfect dining experience. Service was lovely. Totally unpretentious too! The best part: getting to meet Ashford and Simpson before the open mic started!!! They greeted us as if we were familly. We willl definetely be back!

Meal Doesn't Match the Music...
While Nick & Val are gracious hosts, even their personalities can't distract you from the unsavory dishes this place serves. I'm always shocked that this place can't remedy what ails their dishes. From my experience, it's been simple errors that corrupts the food (over cooking and over seasoning). I continue to go because the open-mic session is such a wonderful experience. I beg Sugar Bar to please reassess the menu, so that we faithful customers can actually enjoy the music AND the food.

Great Food
I have visited the Sugar Bar on several occasions. The food is outstanding and the music is great. I took my mother here for Mother's Day and she really enjoyed herself. Ashford & Simpson are often there dining at a nearby table. The only thing I would suggest is that they find a way to include the cover price with the meal.

Delivery
I ordered the Motherland Shrimp which consisted of 6 over salted/over seasoned jumbo shrimp that were rubbery. My girlfriend got the vegetarian lasagna that was subpar it had no cheese in it and was hardly a sample size worth $5.00 let alone $16. As a side we got rice and beans and French fries...The french fries came with ketchup wrapped in aluminum foil, they're too cheap for packets but are will to over charge me for crap shrimp. Not worth it at all, I fear to even know what the dinning facilities look like.
