Interactive Food!
I went here for my birthday with my husband, and I splurged and got the raclette. It was amazing. They brought out my own personal mini broiler for the cheese.... potatoes and cheese and meat on my birthday, how fantastic. I loved this interactive experience, it was the perfect birthday meal. I haven't been here since because it's a bit far from my place but I plan to go back soon!

One of the best spots on Smith Street
I've been to Sue Perette twice now, and each time has been fantastic. Last night, our waiter was absolutely amazing. He discussed a few options with me and convinced me to order the freshly made cassoulet. Not a mistake! My boyfriend ordered the beef cheeks and we shared duck rilletes and ricotta gnudi. Upon our waiter's recommendation, we shared a wonderful Grenache blend from Provence. Everything was perfect. The beans, sausage and confit in the cassoulet were simple, robust and well-seasoned. I was sad to notice that the restaurant was largely empty at peak dinner hours on a Wednesday. That is just wrong. This place is a find. It simply must stay open! I encourage everyone to go and check it out. Immediately.

The little gem on Smith Street
Sue Perette is a great little gem tucked away on Smith Street. A small cute French restaurant, it specializes in regional Touloussian dishes. I started the meal with the duck rillette. Beautifully prepared and conserved in duck fat. The flavors were rich and texture was very smooth. Great way to start. I then went on to the beef cheeks. They were tender and bursting with flavor. The root vegetables were cooked perfectly. To accompany the beef cheeks, I had a great Côte du Rhóne wine (Les Genestas) which complemented the beef and duck rillette so nicely. Our meal concluded with chocolate filled beignets with a raspberry coulis. Very good. I also had the chance to taste the basil ice cream. It was surprisingly bright, fresh-tasting. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive. But he was not hovering. The ambiance was very pleasant. It was warm and inviting. The exposed brick and soft lighting added to the evening. I will definitely be back again. The Duck en Banyules will be my next dish.

A lovely afternoon
The food and the vibe at Sue Perette is wonderful. I wanted to wave everyone in who peered in the window looking for a brunch spot..this is it!

French w/ a little twist
My girlfriend and I have been there for brunch and dinner, and both times we felt that it was a step out of the ordinary. Whether it was serving lard as well as butter at the table with bread (very rich & unctuous), or the eggs coddled in a wine reduced sauce (brunch special), we enjoyed and felt like we got a special treat.

Awesome!
I must wholy disagree with the last review. My boyfriend and I found the food excellent and the service impecable. Interesting cuts of meat, fun small plates like preserved brussel sprouts with duck confit, and great wine. The basil ice cream was a fantastic ending to the meal. We are highly looking forward to our next meal there.

Not awful, not awesome.
My boyfriend and I were the only ones there on a Saturday night. The food was fine - nothing spectacular. I had the pork shank and the goat cheese and tomato salad appetizer and he had the duck and the sausage appetizer. Nothing to wow over but it went down with no complaint. Typical exposed brick interior, local photography adorned the walls. It's like they knew exactly what kind of restaurant decor had been lining Smith Street all these years. Plenty of other restaurants to try before this one.
