I am a new Vegan and was pleasantly surprised to find a soul food vegan restaurant. Loved the mac n cheese, black eyed peas and mixed vegetables with Okra. Looking forward to going back.

Strictly Roots is one of my favorite restaurants in New York. It is the next best thing to my mom's kitchen. The vibe is chill, the people wonderful and I always feel relaxed, at home, and satisfied eating there. I am thankful every time, cause as a vegetarian, it's not easy to get a hearty and so well-balanced meal. But don't go in a rush! You gotta slow down a bit when you walk in and relax. So the service isn't fast, but the food is so well worth the wait. If you're really hungry, which I always am, just take a plate from the food that's ready. Otherwise wait for a veggie burger!

This was by far one of the poorest service restaurants I have been to in along time. We ordered 2 simple veggie burgers one with fries and one with a salad. It took 30 minutes for our food to be brought out. Was a take out order not a stay in order. Food was so so the fries some were over cooked and the burger while OK enough was over cooked as was quite crispy despite the taste and some of the veggie toppings looked to be old. As for value was not worth it when it was over cooked and had to wait so long for it. We won't be back instead we'll try another veggie place we found on way home that has a better selection and more staff so orders are handled promptly and not waste the customers valuable time!

I read the reviews of Strictly Roots and decided to eat there when I was in Harlem last month. I wasn't disappointed. I had tofu, veggies and rice and it was cheap and very tasty. Highly recommended if you're in the area and want something quick and filling. As others have said I found the staff so friendly and I would definitely go back. I must also add one more thing - please don't be put off by the building, it's a bit crumbly but ignore - just go inside!

This is a great vegetarian with delicious and healthy food. The food is served cafeteria style and the portions are large and filling. One of the main attractions of the restaurant is the staff, they are very nice and helpful and go out of their way to assist customers.

Stopped into the place out of the blue. The staff were super chill and friendly. Offered great advice on the menu, and even ran downstairs into the basement to see if they could make a special request. The only thing better than the burger was the Reggae music playing over the speakers. Will definitely go back!
