    Poor service

I went to Stout last night with my father. It was very crowded. But we ordered right away -- 2 hamburgers. It could not get more simple than that. In any event, we ended up walking out after ONE hour of waiting. People who showed up after us were served and we got nothing. The hostess only offered us a free round of drinks - 1 glass of wine and one diet coke. One hour -- and we never got our burgers.

    A Solid Spot

Last week I visited Stout. I've moved from NY and haven't had an opportunity to go there in a while. It was just how I remember it which is GREAT. The beer selection is top notch, the atmosphere welcoming, and even though it is the biggest pub I have been to it retains a sense of comfort found in places much smaller. It felt good to be back.

    always come back

I've been here several times, at all different times of day. Always quality food, always service with a smile. It can get busy in there, so if you want a quieter time, go during lunch...if you want a bar scene go after work or night time. Since i live and work in the city, i've been to tons of places...this one is golden!

Great Beer Selection, not best service

The beer selection is fantastic (over 30 beers on tap if I remember correctly and plenty more in bottles). The bartenders are generally friendly and pour good drinks, but the waiting staff and hostesses are not very friendly and give you attitudes the minute you walk in. One of the better bars near MSG, but much better bars await you in the city.

    Don't brother!

I am really disappointed in this place. They charge you $10 dollars to get in on St. Patrick's Day cause they have a band. Every other place in NYC does not have a cover charge. I been there before to see a band (have family in the band) and they were turning people away on a Saturday night because people didn't want to pay the cover. The place turned out being empty. Why would you turned people away? They still charged us $10 to get in and we were having dinner. They also wanted to put us in an obstructed view - so we could not see the band we just paid $10 for. They knew we were hear to see the band cause we have family in the band. Don't waste your time - better bars in the city. The food - don't order you apps and dinner at the same time. We got our apps and 5 mins later our dinner came out.

Give them an inch they will take a mile!

I've been to Stout several times before for a meal. Because of the great location I wanted to host a football watch party at this venue for about 20-30 people, nothing formal. I was informed about private rooms but I did nto desire that. I was told that there was an area available for reservation but it would have to be confirmed with the party planner. I was then informed that this "available" area could not be reserved due to happy hour (after I was told there was no happy hour). If I wanted to reserve that small bar space in the back it would be a $2500 bar guarantee. That means my guests would have to spend about $100 for bar food on a random night?
