If you are looking for a great steakhouse with tremendous food and a good scene - look elsewhere. The staff was not great, the food was mediocre, but the scene was great. There are so many great steakhouses in nyc - I would check out a few others before going to STK.

STK is more night club than restaurant. The service is bad. Its like no one there has ever worked in a restaurant before. Some of the sides are good, but most of the food is sub-par. They have a Dj but I'm not sure why - they could just put on Jack FM and get the same crappy music for free. And finally, the crowd is extremely bridge and tunnel and really, really young - do they i.d.?

Okay....here is the real deal I had dinner there last night. I have a friend that lives in Manhattan and she suggested this as being one of the best places to dine in the Meatpacking District. The ambience of the place was great with a strong upscale NYC feel there was a weird smell when I walked through the door like an old mildew dishtowel was sitting around by the front door. So we ordered sparkling water, a Cabernet, the 10 oz Filet, Bone-In Rib Steak, Cream Spinach, Mac and Cheese and Chocolate Brownie with Marshmallow topping. We wanted to try the Scallop Ceviche for an appetizer however they were totally out. The sparkling water came out fine however the waiter nor his assistance every came back out to refill our glasses over the course of the meal (that’s one strike), the warm bread was excellent with a blue cheese butter (thumbs up), the wine was good however the same issue occurred I was pouring the wine for myself and my date (strike two) over the course of the meal. I can't comment on the filet however my friend expressed it was good. I ordered the Bone-In Rib eye cooked medium and I explicitly expressed please season the meat....it came back well done and not seasoned, which was quickly corrected (it took 7-8 minutes) which really missed up (strike three) the whole dining experience. The cream spinach was excellent cooked just right and not over cooked the Mac and Cheese was delicious. The dessert was out of this world Warm Chocolate S'more...if love chocolate I would definitely recommend the dessert (the best part of the whole meal). Customer Service....was not horrible but pretty poor...the waiter was nice however I'm not tipping just based on you being nice....its based on a full service experience. Food....was okay....I was expecting more from the rib eye and it wasn't seasoned (all the other side dishes were good however everything was al carte) the sauce on the side for the rib eye was a typical A1 blend of something nothing to write home about. Atmosphere was definitely a NYC vibe, which was cool however the smell that hit you in the face when you first walked through the door was bad...hmmm which made you say what is going on in here. All in all....the total meal excluding the tip was $175....would I come back? Probably not. If you want to be seen you probably will enjoy yourself ).

We went there on Thur night for a b-day dinner and the place was totally amazing! The place itself is nicely decorated, but most restaurants in that area are. I expected the food to be good, nothing too amazing, just got but was totaly surprised. This was one of the best steaks we ever had. I had the filet mignon and its always the hardest meat to cook but it was great. The sirloin steak was also excellent. All meat was very juicy and tasted great. I also reccomend mac & cheese for the side with truffles. Its a pricey dish (because of the truffles) but definately worth the money. Overall, food was absolutely great and the place is very nice inside. Great to go out for dinner with friends!

A friend and I recently went to STK after hearing some amazing reviews of it from friends. We were a smidge hesitant however because of the poor service reviews posted here. Well, let me tell you...the place was AMAZING! We started our meal with the fois gras french toast and it was literally to die for!!! Then we had the Beef tartar and it was also amazing, so light! We then got served our steaks which were literally perfection! I've eaten everywhere and my steak was literally perfect! Also, don't miss the corn pudding it was awesome too! My only complaint is that the tables really are to close together (at least in the front) but hey it's New York right?

Went the other night for dinner and was somewhat apprehensive since the reviews for service ere not so great. Well, I COMPLETELY disagree, the service was amazing! Or waiter, Christopher, was so sweet and attentive and very knowledgeable. The food was spectacular (mac and cheese with truffles, oh my god!). The manager called me last night to see if we enjoyed everything. I would go back in a second, this place is great (good music, too)

I had dinner at Stk last week and it was a total debacle from the beginning. The reservation wasnt there, even though i called twice to verify it. And then it just got worse from there, the steaks were tough and it was too loud, the service staff were unwilling to help. overall a bad experience and would not recommend.
