We stopped by for an early dinner on a Friday and were able to get a table outside on the terrace with no reservation, no wait. The waiter was very friendly and prompt. Drinks: Our table had the Pimm's, Bees Knees and a ginger-flavored cocktail. The cocktails were beautifully presented, and in particular for the the Pimm's and the ginger-flavored cocktail, were very tasty. Food: The Atlantic swordfish was perfectly grilled and wondrously tasty, and honestly priced at $19. The ravioli was good too, but the portion-size was laughable, and overpriced at $15. We only had the rhubarb pie for dessert, which was a bit of a disappointment - rather bland and characterless. The filling was an alarming shade of red that brings to mind drugstore baked goods. I suppose it may be better to stick to chocolate based desserts... The place is quite nice for people watching, and the restaurant is full of beautiful people. That should be the goal of coming here...the food is probably only secondary.

I never did get a chance to eat the food there last night. Sat at the bar with a couple of girlfriends...menus in our hands. Bartender comes over to my friend in the middle only takes her order and rudely grabs the menu away from me...doesn't bother to ask for my order. Prior to that bartender had rudely taken a fresh drink from me too. Granted it was only water, but I had just ordered that and it was right next to me full. Then when I told the bartended that I had wanted to order, the menu was taken away, he didnt apologized at all or ask what he can get me. He snapped back...well you should have said something! (What the heck do you think I'm trying to do now?) Didn't want to give them my business. Bartender made a poor assumption I was only there to drink water and poorly mistreated me,(which is no excuse). Upon deciding what I was going to do next after leaving this rude place, bartender condescendingly asked if I wanted another water....never mind abt apologizng and setting a place for me like he did for my friends. I left really annoyed. Never been treated so obnoxiously by a bartender in my life here in NYC. This restaurant needs to train their bartenders in Hospitality 101!

Had dinner at the Standard Grill on Friday night and have to report that while the scene is nice although an interesting mix, the food is just decent. Nothing to write home about. Great for cocktails and a lite bite but that's about it. I had the string bean salad followed by the grilled octopus and my friend had the wedge salad and then the steak. Good, but not great.

Another overpriced, pretentious spot. The place was half empty and the hostess tried to tell us they were only seating reservations. When we started to walk away instead of beg we were allowed a table. We shouldn't have taken it. Mediocre food, very loud bar full of empty suits, and a huge tab.

The restaurant dining room was beautiful and certainly extra points for the well-crafted cocktails. The food was on the whole good. For NYC standards, nothing to write home about, but the oyster selection was decent, the cold cuts (e.g. jamon iberico, soppresata, etc) were reasonably priced for a plate of 3 choices, and the squid app was good. The chilled lobster entree was too small to justify the price and worst, came with lots of mayo. If I go back, I would try the chicken for two... just too much on this first outing.
