Nice atmosphere but bad service and mediocre food. Would not recommended to anyone.

A few weeks ago, we hosted by brother's birthday dinner at Standard Grill. We were a party of 20 and there was one waiter. He forgot numerous orders, accidentally threw out my nephews pasta (which they had asked to be wrapped up) and took 20 minutes to bring a cappucino, once it was ordered. It was unbearably slow and not worth the wait.

i have to agree with all these other reviews. the staff acts like you are lucky to be there, and in new york with so many wonderful restaurants, they should still act like they are lucky to have you. The space is truly great, the atmosphere is fun, and the menu is built very well. the food, we had ribeye, charcuterie plate, salad, octopus app, a seafood dish, cocktails and a bottle of wine, lots of food, big check. we had a 10 pm reservation on a tuesday, so clearly no one was going to be seated after us, we explicitely asked the waiter more than once to slow it down so we could enjoy our meal, and he just speed it up. wanted to know our drink order immediately (3 times), my app plates were being taken away while i was eating off of them, to bring my entree, with no apology. my wine glass was refilled every five mins until bottle was emptied, wine glasses were to the brim...the entire meal took less than an hour, to which we made sure to linger for another. it was offensive, and ungrateful, and completely illogical. they may be able to get away with that with tourists and models for a while, but they won't get repeat visits from new yorkers who won't waste their time when there are restaurants with better food and better service. i've always found that the places i feel lucky to be able to eat at, act equally thankful for their patrons.

The brunch cocktails were outstanding, boozey and not the slightest bit watered down . The only complaint I have was the cheese plate. On the menu it looked like a steal at 10 bucks. But it was rip off since there were two half bite sizes of cheese, you could barely taste it . There were much more black forest ham and salami. I wouldve prefered if they gave you a hell of a lot more cheese on that plate. Baked eggs were amazing, little portion but knock your socks off good

Dining at the Standard is nothing special. And maybe that's ok -- I found it disappointing, though. We went for brunch after getting to Pastis too late to sit without a long wait. So my review is also colored by a comparison to brunch at Pastis, which I rather like. I actually have very little to say about my meal there except that it was completely forgettable. It was certainly not _bad_, but it wasn't particularly good, and I definitely think it's a poor value. The experience is utterly interchangeable with hundreds of other NYC dining experiences where you drop the usual hundred bucks and promptly forget the experience. I do like the fact that they open early for breakfast (7:00am). I'd go back there if I needed an early-Sunday b'fast. It would be serviceable in that capacity.

Recently went to check it out. We were late for our reservation so it was fair for them to put us in the front dining room. I think the main room is a lot better. The food was genuinely good. We had the lobster stew, swordfish and grilled calamari- all really good. The service was just ok and really needs help if you're going to have this much hype. We had to ask for water and keep flagging her down for service, check, etc. Also, that front room has people spilling over in the bar and the bar patrons kind of spill on to the diners which is really not ok and the noise level is way way too high. I would say it was a good crowd when we were there but the host and hostess could use some work too. I would recommend checking it out for food but DON'T sit in the front room
