We had high expectations based on the reviews and hype, but never have we been so disappointed. The host who greeted us pointed vaguely in the direction of our table, so we sat at the only table set for two we could see. We were mid-way through the drinks we'd been served when a waiter interrupted to ask if we'd made a reservation. We confirmed that we had, and a few minutes later he informed us rudely and abruptly that we were at the wrong table and that our reservation was in the front room. No apology was given and we were humiliatingly frog-marched like criminals to an uncomfortable table set for 6 in the front room. We expressed our disappointment to another waiter who promised to speak to someone about it. It was only after reminding her twice that a manager eventually came over and apologised, offering us complementary desserts, This did little to make up for the overwhelmingly disappointing experience. Not only were we treated appallingly, the food was very average. My appetiser was an extremely bland carrot and goats cheese terrine, followed by stone-cold duck breast with ratatouille. After I complained, the cold duck was taken away and eventually returned warmer (but overdone), but the ratatouille was still refrigerator cold. My husband's so-called 'prawn cocktail' consisted of prawns served with tomato sauce (OK but hardly a prawn cocktail). Our free desserts were sickly sweet and barely edible. Probably the most disappointing restaurant experience we've had.

Just drinks there... My husbands HUGE beer at the Beirgarten seems very reasonable - however my teany tiny poor of wine - was $16! Obnoxious.. Yes, I know hotels are always rediculously expensive however this was beyond unreasonable. The wine was just ok.. and I know - I am paying for the hip, funky vibe?? Oh please.....

As I said in a review of another spot, I like places with names that start with "The" - it gives them a sense of gravitas and importance. With that in mind for the night, gfs and I hit this spot for dinner and drinks. As we always expect with hip places, the food was just OK and the service was awful, but it didn't ruin the night. The people watching was great and you feel cool once you're inside. We need more places like this that focus on the experience and not just on food and staff.

Went for brunch with a group of friends. Several celebs were spotted. This is a truly beautiful and hip restaurant with really delicious food though the portions are small. The staff are very pretty but have no understanding of service or hospitality. Awful service! Go for the scene but don't expect much.

Beyond Terrible array of RUDE staff...servers, hosts... Food is ok, drinks once again just ok but the attitude and erratic sloppy service...serving ok but overpriced food just to be part of a so-called "IT" scened? NOT WORTH IT...SAVE YOUR MONEY and go to many other fine fun well managed and served restaurants in the area!

I have been living in NY for over 12 years and have tried almost every good restaurant in every variety. I am not sure why people are raving about this place but there is nothing special about this place, rather it is below awful restaurants of NY. we were party of 8 for dinner. To begin with I am not too keen on eating in the meat packing district but our friends were visiting from out of town so they opted for this area. We got seated at 10 when our table was for 9:30. The bar tenders at the bar area were polite but the drinks were quiet poorly made. the consistency of each ingredient was off so none of the drinks were up to the par. after we got seated, it took waiter around 25 minutes to come to our table and that was when i asked him to come to our table. The drinks came quickly but it took 45 minutes to for the appetizers to come. Among appetizers, Wedge of iceberg was slobbered with sauce and bacon bits were thrown on them. Tasteful restaurants dont put half iceberg lettuce and sub-standard sauce with bacon on the menu, anyone can tell you that. Grilled octopus was cold but the base of sweet potato was warm. Wedges of cheese on the table was not at all fresh, Parmesan cheese is usually crunchy, moist and bitter nut sweet. I am still wondering what it was that i ate which looked like cheese. I had to ask the waiter again after 1/2 hour to come to our table to take our order. after ordering the food, we had around 3 round of drinks as we kept on trying different drinks and none of the drink was tasteful till we switched over to champagne. Now keep in mind that during all this time, we had been patient and did not ask the waiter for the food as we realized that it was friday night and kitchen was busy. So after approx 1 1/2 hour we ran out of our patience and asked the waiter about the food. we were informed that it will be ready soon. So needless to say, after eating bread and having oddly made drinks and appetizers, we decided to call the manager and requested to cancel the meal as there is absolutely no reason for any restaurant to delay food for this amount of time, not in NY. We have better options and nicer service in this city

First of, I feel really sorry for all those having not-so-great time over there, I know how you all feel, my friend and I are also servers, hang out at TSG after work almost every friday, and we'd say 8 out of 10, we were pretty much satistied, of course, it's a mysterious sometimes when it takes forever to get a waiter to your table but I think it'll calm down with the service. We still love you TSG, keep it up!
