The Low Line
Yes, location, location, just below the High Line. Was there for brunch- The space is great, well executed, open kitchen behind glass in the back, a lively bar scene.OK, my expecatations were not really high, you know, Eggs Benedict, etc. So we ordered oysters to start, which were very good. We had to ask for shellfish forks that took a while to receive. Before we had finished them, our entrees arrived in a rushed manner. I expect that in Chinatown, not a one-star NY Times rated restaurant. The food was cold, which I did not send back. It was my friend's birthday- when I reconfirmed the reservation, I told the restaurant, and the receptionist said, "Yes, we know." Nothing was done or said to acknowledge the birthday- It's a lively, fun place, but don't expect much in terms of the food and service.

Great Place
Four of us had different meals & appetizers. All were excellent. Service was wonderful. Dessert was fabulous. Pretty restaurant. We will go back.

No thank you
Aside from the other diners in the restaurant (who were rude) the management and food was worth skipping! The food was not cooked evenly and was over salted. For what the food costs and what it claims to be there are much better places in that area. The restaurant atmosphere reminded me of s mash between a school cafeteria and a restaurant on Cape Cod. I will not be going back and do not recommend this.

fantastic atmosphere, wierd food
went here with my sister and our best friend. the location is super chic and the crowd very fun to watch, person at next table was getting vip treatment from the waiter while we were getting ignored and turned out was vip at mtv programming. anyway, food was very high quality but with wierd spices, strange flavor mayo on complementary potatoes that came with our dishes. The waitress that served us was out to lunch instead of concentrating on serving us. I admit we are a "tough crowd" but at these prices the service should be better. Can't beat the scene but the food is just ok.

Frittata and Service
Two of three entrees ordered were good (hamburger/panini). The frittata (chilled?) was really not good. A replacement was offered; however, my dining companions were half way thru their meal at that point (since we hadn't seen our waiter, we had to find someone for ice tea refill and to ask about frittata). We only saw the waiter when we ordered, then paid (even for frittata, which had one bite taken out of it). The rating is based on the frittata and service.

One of the best dining experiences I've had!
I went to the Standard Grill twice. Once for breakfast, and then once for dinner after it being recommended by my breakfast server. First the breakfast. The hostess had a bright smile, very welcoming in the morning. We were seated and greeted by our server promptly. We received our coffee and juice without having to wait long and ordered (try the poached eggs!!! and the pork sausage on the side) They have kissing dogs as the salt and pepper shakers which are SO cute and for sale. Our server was so fun, sweet, knowledgable, and made us have such a great morning. His name was Ian, try and sit in his section! Although all the servers looked like they were great too. Now on to dinner, WOW! The food is unbelievable. Chef Dan Silverman really knows his stuff, and the sommelier picked out some great wines. The Maitre D' seemed calm and collected and charming even when there was a swarm of people around. The service was great. Fun servers that know their food. THAT is service. We ordered wine, the seared squid which was the absolute BEST way to start a meal, the swordfish was just plain impeccable, and the deal closer dessert for two. I didn't catch our servers name, but I would come back time and time again. With the other reviews on this site, those people must have been out to have a bad time. If the food was that bad, and the service was that awful, the restaurant wouldn't be so busy every single night. I will DEFINITELY come back here. Can't wait to try the brunch!

Excellent, reasonably priced breakfast/brunch
This was a very pleasnt dining surprise. The breakfast/brunch was surprisingly well-priced and quite good. Not at all like standard (no pun intended) hotel restaurant fare -- and particularly good and reasonably priced given the location-- adjacent to the Highline. The service was careful and attentive. Had a fun, leisurely excellent breakfast then a walk on the Highline. And if it's a nice day, you can eat outside.
