    Great Experience

I went in here with pretty low expectations. I envisioned a take out burger place with a few tables, but this is an actual restaurant with a hostess stand. I had a Groupon, but I gladly would have paid full price, and I will be back. We had the grilled chicken sandwich, $11, it was large whole pieces of chicken breast served on an herb focaccia, tasted great. Also the Crabbie burger, which was of course crab cakes on a bun. It was very good, but at $15 I would not order again. The $6 handcut fries were more than enough for two people and pretty good. We shared the buffalo wings, at $8, they were a decent value. We were rushing to catch a movie, not a coronary, so we didn't try the shakes. Our server, Richard, was completely pleasant, helpful and expedient. The restaurant had a nice ambience, bustling but not loud. This is the perfect place to stop in to share a burger, fries and shake/pint with my bf or friends when we're shopping in the area or catching a movie. It was exactly the sort of experience you would expect at $25 a head, no more no less. Will be back.

    Stand is quality no more

We have been going to Stand for a few years. It has been in decline - you get less for more. Visited on 12/3/11. It was dirty, the food was average at best, the service was poor and it was, for the first time, a most unsatisfying experience.

So much for stated hours. Gone totally downhill.

When the restaurant advertises that its open to midnite seven days a week, and I walk in at 10:20pm and am told the kitchen and bar is closing, its pretty obvious this place has gone seriously downhill. Then the burger comes, and its literally half the size it used to be at a higher price. I used to come here all the time, but this place is disappointing now.

    growing prices

i used to visit stand frequently for the toasted marshmallow milkshakes. they are the most delicious milkshake of all time! but i noticed that the prices just kept going up! when i first started getting them, they were about $5.50..then it was $6, then $6.50, then $7..and the last time i got one, the price of one milkshake with tax was over $8!! that was my cutoff. sorry, stand, but you have to be more fair about your prices.

    A Great NYC restaurant

Upon coming into Stand, there is a very open.sort of club feeling. Yet this should not be a turnoff, as the shakes and burgers were some of the best I have tasted. It is also quite affordable. Thus this is a great restaurant for any New Yorker looking for great food at very affordable prices.

    Beers

good selection of mostly great craft, i like to see more variations in the style types but it is a great place to find local seasonals. staff is good but not really super into talking beer. go with fried pickles as a starter.

    Mediocre burger, good shakes

I went there yesterday with 13 other friends. We had made a reservation and were seated promptly. Our waitress was really friendly and attentive. I was absolutely sure that she would screw up something, but she got every order correctly and we all got our food at more or less the same time - which was really nice. The fries (sweet potato, shoestring) were really good, the burger not so much. First of all, though it says it comes with a tomato, none of the burgers at our table had any tomato on them. Secondly, and what really annoyed me, the top half of the bun on my burger was cold. Ugh, cannot stand cold buns/tortilla wraps etc when they are supposed to be warm/hot. Only ate about half, then decided to fill up on what was delicious: the toasted marshmallow milkshake and more fries. Oh, and while our plain fries were delicious, one of my friends ordered the fries with ham and cheese - which was a complete joke. They melted a few slices of cheese on top of a pile of fries and threw on some ham bits, so that only the top most fries had cheese, but it all stuck together and all the fries underneath had no cheese and weren't even good because they had become soggy. Blah. Wouldn't order that!! Bottom line: Go for: sweet potato fries/shoestring/normal fries and shakes. Don't go: if you are looking for an amazing burger.
