A Carnegie or Katz's It is Not
We decided not to wai the 15 minutes on the CArnegie Deli line and though the hustle and bussle there is not pleasant the pastrami is first rate. Well the Stage pastrami was fair to poor and they suggest using Russian Dressing vs. a good deli mustard. I was stunned. I took the mustard and it as similar to Gray Paupon and I wished for Nathan's or Guldens. When I am paying $16 for a sandwich I deserve better. I also ordered a potato pancake and it was no better than a frozen one, it probably was frozed. Buy at $6+ I was stunned. I can tell you the cans of Dr. Browns Diet Dream and Cherry were very good. My wife had 1/2 a sandwich and a small dish of cole slaaw and the tab was $47 plus tip orf $55 because the waitress was quite pleasant.

The Best
Best pierogi in the East Village, and I have tried many others. Very good breakfast, the fat cook in the morning makes the best scrambled eggs I think I have ever had. Highly recommended.

Great value
My favorite place to grab lunch. Large portions, good soups. The workers are lively and cheerful.

Best homemade style food in East Village
I love this place for several reasons: great food, large portions, great price and great service. Atmosphere is not something to write home about, but you can be sure you will leave happy after $7 lunch special.

Best turkey one can get!
At the stage I have a delicious thanksgiving dinner every week on Friday, a huge plate of juicy turkey with stuffing and 2 vegetables of your choice, cranberry, and bread (I prefer the huge fluffy homemade challah bread), a steal at $11.00. I have been a customer at stage for 15 years, and whenever I eat there, It reminds me of my mom's cooking.

The BEST !
I have been eating here for several years now. Their Breakfast is amazing. Eggs, bacon , Pancakes. Simply the best anywhere in the world. Chester their Chef should be on TV. He is a food artist behind the counter. Handling so many orders and never messing up. Their Baked Porkchops and Chicken cultets for dinner are the best in New York City.
