    Found a new favorite restaurant

Our second great experience at a restaurant that is our new favorite. My husband and I used to be big fans of Prune, but that has gone downhill, leaving us bereft of a good spot for a rare night out now that we have a toddler. St. Anselm has filled the bill with great food and wonderful service. We'd been there once before and our server remembered us and gave us a special welcome back app (the shrimp and avocado, which was delicious) alongside the soft shell crab special which we ordered (amazeballs). Then we got lovely steaks and sides. The steaks were perfect (mine was more rare than medium rare, but still delicious) and the truffle mashed potatoes were perfect. The peppers were not remarkable, but not a bring down by any means. We got a lovely wine, and when we expressed appreciation for the cooler temp of this particular red (the Clos Mimi), our server offered to bring us an ice bucket to keep it perfect. All in all, it was a lovely meal. We especially appreciated the service - nice people bringing us nice food.

    Good food, crowded place

Exhausted hostess was also the waitress, which made for an entrance cluttered with people who don't mind cutting anyone off in line (watch your back folk)! Very loud all american place with good food..if you're willing to wait 45 mins for a seat in a very loud and crowded restaurant. If you can stomach all of the above, you'll be well rewarded with good food : )

Hip replacement (to my old haunts)

Love this place. Food was delicious, and you know you are in the Burg. I just love the scene here. But anyway, I had a delicious iceberg wedge, and some yummy steak, and the waitress was a doll. I think some non area people were here, but whatever. I mean, we can't all be swell like me and the man. Recommend you try it.

    good food

clams were wonderful! iceberg wedge was not my fave but my dining partners loved it. Axe handle steak was really really good as were the sides - we had all three. Service was ok, not over the top but not bad. The wine list is extensive but the waitress did her best to help out. This a fun restaurant with good solid food.

What is all the hype about?

Decided to check out this restaurant out all the great reviews. We were very disappointed. We ordered the butcher's steak, creamed spinach, and lettuce wedge. The lettuce wedge and creamed spinach were ok, but nothing to get excited about. The steak, however, was very tough and not terribly flavorful. Maybe it was an off night, but we won't be going back.

    Terrific!

Live in the neighborhood, but never walked in because the outside looks like a drinker's bar. Walking in, it's quaint, open kitchen, even nice updated and clean bathrooms. Great start. They have beer and wine on tap. Food is incredible. We had the lamb shoulder cooked to perfect medium juicy perfection; bar steak cooked medium rare - fantastic, and the whole trout - also awesome with tender meat and a crispy salt skin! The warm bacon iceberg blue salad is fantastic, a great mix of yummy warm bacon bits over crisp iceberg (which makes the blue cheese get soft - excellent. Shishito peppers were simply grilled with salt and lemon, and the artichokes were great as well! Dessert was lite - we had the grilled strawberries and homemade marshmellows with graham cracker and chocolate drizzle. Must say, what a nice lite way to end a great steakhouse dinner! Excellent addition to the neighborhood!
