Inedible Steaks
I am usually wary of Times Square restaurants but tried St. Andrews because of the good reviews here. I was very disappointed. We were there for dinner on 5/20 and decided to have the daily special – Porterhouse with wine reduction which came with mashed potatoes and collards. The steak was completely inedible as it was all gristle, sinews, and, fat plus it was really tough. Not only were the steaks poor cuts of meat but they were poorly cooked too. We ordered medium and medium-rare but there was no difference that we could see. The sauce looked like gravy rather than a reduction. Potatoes and collards were fine, but expensive given that we paid $29 for the entrée and could only eat the vegetables.

Hidden Gem Of A Restaurant!
I have visited this restaurant many times and the food and service is always outstanding! The baby back ribs are excellent as is their steak. You can expect large portions at a very reasonable price, especially for New York City. Bar drinks are also of a nice size and a fair price. They have remodeled it since my last visit so I do not know how much has changed. All I know it was excellent all the times I have been there.

Wine Dinner = The BEST!
A NYC bargain the wine dinner... choose any appetizer, entree and dessert with cofffe and 4 wines - all you can drink. All under $50 Tracy is The BEST. Try to have her as your waitress. I take all my out of town friends (as well as those here in th ecity).

A Place that Feels Like Home!
I love going to St. Andrews. It's my favorite resturant in NYC along with my best friend. We found the resturant by accident four years ago and we have been going there there ever since. My friend ravs about the haggis. I love the Caesar Salad and Cranagan. But all in all I have never had a bad meal there. The atmosphere and service is great. You are made feel like family.

us scots like st. andrews
my husband and another couple (all ex pats living in Vancouver) visited new york last week and came across st. andrews on our wanderings. the food is delish and the service from Elspeth was lovely. definately recommending it and will return when we are next back in NY. from someone who knows her haggis, the homemade haggis at st. andrews is excellent and if you go there you absolutely have to try it. we all felt like we were back in bonnie scotland!

I have been a patron for a few years now
I have been going to St. Andrews for a few years now whenever I happen to be arouund that part of town or am going to a show. I have always loved the food, especially the Buffalo Calamari, and the drink selection is totally awesome. On my last trip in there though I barely knew any of the staff, my 2 favourite Scottish bartenders, Sharon & Roger have gone back to Scotland and my favourite friendly waitress has gone back to Ireland! Maybe I need to move over that part of the pond too!!
