Not worth the wait
Since Spoon doesn't accept reservations I called first to see about the wait for a party of 7. I was told no more than 20 minutes. On arrival , we were told it was a 15 minute wait. After waiting over an hour we were finally seated. When we had questioned the manager or owner about the excessive wait, we were rudely told that we were free to find somewhere else to eat. Although the food was very good , it could not change the bad experience we encountered. Only go if you have time to spare.

Great Experience!
My family was visiting the city with my grandmother for the first time this weekend. On our way to Spoon my grannie's scooter broke down. When we arrived they proceeded to pull a chair with wheels from the back to wheel my grandmother through the restaurant. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. We had to leave the scooter in front of the restaurant and they were accomdating for us and let us leave it there. I highly recommend bringing out of town guest to the quaint and unique place.

Great food, terrible service
It's a real shame that this place has such a nasty wait-staff because the food is excellent! It's so hard to find good fresh food in this city. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering from here again because the staff can be downright harassing. They are rude on the phone and then they are rude when they bring you your food! I was putting up with it for a while but I have absolutely had it with this place. A real shame...

I GO EVERYDAY!
I encountered Spoon a few months ago. I was tired of the old standby's for lunch and breakfast and then Spoon came along. The food is flavorful, all house made, and only uses seasonal products from local purveyors. I love it. I never get bored because there are so many new entrees and sides everyday. My favorite is the chicken lunch box pies. these are a must have when you crave something comforting. It is a must try.

Sweet
I stumbled on Spoon a couple weeks ago. I was rushing back to the office and needed to grab lunch so I got a coffee, small pumpkin muffin and a "side" chickpea salad. My total was about $9, which is a little pricey but not too much - I work in Soho and good food is as much or more down there. The coffee was delicious! I'm guessing they use mocha d'oro. Very smooth but great coffee flavor. The muffin was small (which is good if you want a muffin but not 500 calories worth), and the salad was actually larger than I expected - always nice. And it was also very good. The staff seemed a little disorganized which was odd since the place was mostly empty and there was only 1 woman ahead of me. But I am definitely going back.

Unfortunate
If it weren't for the snobby and short staff, this place would be good. Great atmosphere, particularly after changing locations, but the people behind counter make you feel like serving you is such a hassle! It makes a patron uncomfortable and unwilling to return, despite the decent food. And should be noted, there is a $10 min on cards, IF they feel like it because this policy changes all the time. I think it's a ploy for you to spend more on a slow day - shady, shady.
