    Delicious, cozy spot

I've lived on the UWS for 10 years, and never new about Spiga. I'm so glad that after a decade, I found it! Upon entering, you feel like you're in a country lodge with the rustic look to it, and we were greeted right away with a smile. Promptly seated in the cozy restaurant, we were given menus and wine list and offered water. the waiter took a bit of time to come tell us the specials/take our order, but there was so much on the menu that caught my eye, it was probably better that way! The waiter suggested that the artichoke salad was great, and boy was he right! Delicious! I expected it to be a cold salad, but it was warm, and amazing. That plus the special chilean sea bass, I was in heaven. The warm cake/cherry ice cream for dessert.. put me over the top. I will definitely be back here again and again and ... (only con - I think it's a little pricier than it should be... but def. worth it. I didn't think the plates were small at all actually)

    Poor value

Portions are very small and expensive given the choices in area. I had a lovely shaved octopus salad with "citrus" that was lovely but so small that I wanted more but couldn't eat it as it was mostly lemons......sour lemons. I can go somewhere else and get great/better octopus and a decent portion for less. Same is the case with the duck. The gnocchi was good not the best I've ever had and the scallops were super small.

    Will be back!

All three in my party couldn't stop commenting on how good the food was. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service was professional.

    Awesome gnocchi!

It's nearly impossible to find really good homemade gnocchi anywhere, but this place is amazing! Their potato-pumpkin gnocchi with creamy parmesan sauce was just perfect. Real tender and tasteful gnocchi--completely authentic. So glad I found this place! Great casual atmosphere, and good service. Loved it!

    Amazing flavor!

We are new to the neighborhood and Spiga was recommended by a friend. My husband and I both had a salad and a pasta. The artichoke salad and ravioli with truffle oil had so much flavour. It has been one of the BEST meals we've had since moving to NYC!

    great italian

perfect in all ways. ambiance -cozy, charming. service-fast,friendly. food-delicious.The rustic bread with olive oil that arrived at the table is delicious. i have tried many of the appetizers and all are good-eggplant parmesan or the salads work fine. black squid linguine with shrimp to die for. entrees cooked to perfection.-monk fish was wonderful. wine the waiter picked for us great. great, great, great is all I can say for this off the beaten path (between bwy and amsterdam) up a flight of stair with big glass windows italian.

How Have I Not Eaten Here Yet!

so my roommate wanted pumpkin ravioli for her b-day dinner. We found that and SO much more at Spiga. I've lived on the UWS for over 3 years and didn't know about this place. Oh when I think about the meals i missed. I had the stuffed chicked w/ truffle oil and it was probably the best chicken dish I have ever had. We also got the artichoke salad appitizer - which was a-mazing. The atmosphere was great. I only say the service was a little under par bc it was very busy so our waiter was doing a lot. But an older gentleman who i think was the manager or owner made sure everything was ok. For group dinners or a date you have to try Spiga! I also felt that the prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food that we received. Apps, dinner, drink and dessert for 4 people - total with tip $260 - not bad at all for a great night of friends, food and wine
