I have been going to Spice for years, I was a regular at the original on University. The other day i was at the 13th street location eating the lunch special with a friend, the woman next to me ordered the 3 flavor fish with the dipping sauce and vegetables, it looked amazing - huge fresh crispy fish pieces. Well i just ordered that 'amazing' looking meal from the 2nd Ave location for delivery. I am eating it right now and it is a disappointment. Instead of spicy fish fillets, I received, fish sticks (literally) with NO flavor, on top of over cooked cabbage and a dollop of sweet and sour sauce. They wouldn't even serve this at a homeless shelter - it is that bad. It is literally the worst 10 i may have ever spent. Why the different quality Spice?

Excellent service, nice atmosphere, heard there might be a line but not when we were there. Lunch menu has a good variety, recommend trying the Thai Iced Tea here and the Siamese Fried Rice.

spice is an amazing restaurant but this one (on university) is a little packed so the waiters are everywhere trying to please everyone so i bet you can understand why sometimes they're a little out of breath or crabby. other than that the food is amazing, great prices for the amout they give you and im definately going back.

The food was mediocre at best. Way too much salt and msg in the food--I was drinking tons of water even hours after the meal--I almost think they were trying to conceal bad food by over-flavoring it. The cocktail drinks were also a little on the small side (the martini glass is smaller than the standard size). I'm figuring the restaurant can make easy $$$ off the local college kids (who don't know what a regular sized cocktail should be, or what GOOD thai food tastes like). Service was ok, atmosphere was nice and energetic, but I won't go back because the food was just too salty.

I have been ordering a lot to this restaurant. I love the food, prices are reasonable but what unpleasant service...

If you want to be pampered by your waiter, do NOT go to Spice - g0 to one of the frou-frou restaurants that charge four times what Spice charges for their delicious appetizers, entrees, and drinks. The portions are generous and the new location is fun. Even when the place is packed, my water is always refilled and my food is always served piping hot. So what if the waiters are busy - just figure out what you want to eat before they have to pester you about it. Their lunch prix fixe prices can't be beat. A fun place to meet up with friends and nosh.
