I heart spice. The food is great and you get so much quality food for your money. Those are the things that keep me coming back. HOWEVER, the waitstaff quality has declined...new waiters/waitresses don't listen, argue with you about what you order, forget to bring you water and flatware, and get this- argue with you about what tip you leave! What nerve! I'm a standard 15% tipper, unless I really don't like the service. One night, when I had to repeatedly stay on top of the waiter, I decided to tip only 10%. Can you believe the hostess stopped us at the door and said "People usually tip more than this"? If you can get over the apparent lack of finesse of the waitstaff, you can score some really great food, for not a lot of money, and in a reasonable amount of time. Also, it gets crowded and really loud, but happy eating!

The lunch specials can't be beat especially around NYU. It's the perfect atmosphere and great place to go with friends. Even when they are very busy, you can always be seated in 10-15 minutes. I always bring visitors here for the great lunch value and a very NYC experience, and get take out all the time.

This is a consistently delicious cheap treat! It feels very 'New York' so i love taking out of towners here. They are not intimidated by the price, get great food, and a good time. The curry's are my favorite.

Its not a high class place. the service is slow, the athmosphere is nothing to tell your friends about BUT its the BEST restaurant around cause the food is just GREAT. check out the Maasaman Chicken which is the best. as for starters- the Calamari is the right choice

A co-worker and I waited for over 50 minutes to get our food because they accidently gave our order to someone else. By the time they had it ready we had to package it up and take it back to the office. The restaurant refused to give us a discount or anything else for our trouble. It is understandable that there was an accident but how it was dealt with was very unprofessional.

The food is awesome, no wonder there are so many people there. I guess it goes hand in hand. The staff are nice and the food is very affordable especially for NYC.

When I came to NYC for college, I had never really experienced different kinds off food. I was brought to Spice my freshman year and fell in love. I've been there probably a dozen times in the past 2 years. The food is absolutely incredible, and I always leave stuffed. Most of all, the prices are great. Pad Thai, which is what I almost always get, is around $10. Trendy environment, however it can be a little crowded. Never really had a problem with the service either.
