Great for take out...
I haven't actually dined in here, so I couldn't give super high ratings on atmosphere, but Spice makes for great take out. Not too pricey, the portions are big and not at all greasy. I got the Pad Thai with chicken and vegetables from here and was delighted. I'm big on health food, so I wouldn't normally order Pad Thai because of the usual grease factor, but this was nice, light and flavorful. I added some chili sauce from the fridge because I like my Pad Thai spicy :) I will definitely be ordering this again though! No MSG and no heavy feeling in your stomach afterwards!

Cheap and good
Fine thai food, not life changing but leaves me impressed every time. Try the basil veggie duck. Also, great prices, very affordable.

great food, very slow delivery
I've been ordering from Spice for about 3 years now. I just spotted the other reviews here and I have to agree, the food is good enough to keep you going back for more, but delivery takes a ridiculously long time (sometimes over an hour) - and with a $3 delivery charge, thats just unacceptable. And yes, you are almost always put on hold. I've gotten annoyed with them hanging up on me abruptly, but now i've learned to say "lemme give you my card number" as part of the order... its the only way I've gotten them to not hang up on me. The UES branch space is pretty cozy and the service is really quick (which, once again, makes me wonder why delivery is so slow with the surcharge).

Delivery very disappointing
I have been very disappointed with the lunch time delivery from this restaurant. It has taken a very long time (average 1.5 hrs). The food arrived cold and greasy. The owner was quite rude and unapologetic. Why is it so hard to find good Thai in the Upper East Side?

The food is good, service is not.
Spice is a good Thai place for UES, but unfortunately the service is poor. And if you every try to order over the phone, it's even worst, they'll hang up before you finish you order and when you call back you are put on hold. I have cancelled my order with them before because of bad phone experience, and I tired again tonight thinking it was just a one time thing only to find myself irked and wishing I didn't call them in the first place. Bottom line, the food is decent, but not worth the hassle. Dinning in was acceptable.

Great Thai place!
I'm a little surprised by the bad reviews - I love this place! The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and I haven't had any problems with the service (dining in or delivery). It's one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city! I especially recommend the red curry w/tofu & the vegetable dumplings.

Great for takeout, so-so service
We order takeout from Spice at least once a week and have never had any problems. Our delivery has always been extremely fast, never more than 40 min and usually under 25. The food is amazing especially considering the prices - have never had a bad entree! While the restaurant has sleek, attractive decor, they are clearly understaffed. Any request takes forever, especially on weekends. Save it for delivery or go during weeknights.
