I enjoyed the restaurant the first time I was there, right after they'd opened their larger venue, so I went back with enthusiasm. Unfortunately, every dish we ordered was mediocre and disappointing. The duck in the warm duck salad was cool, and when that was pointed out, the whole dish was microwaved or warmed over, lettuce and all, and just thrown back on the plate, not presented piled up as when first served. The ribs appetizer was room-temperature, and needed to be heated; it was lack-luster either way. The worst was the marinated, grilled red snapper which appeared old and warmed over from the start, and tasted as much. Service is hardly attentive. It took forever to find out waitperson, and forever to get the food served and then returned after the complaint. Not a good experience all around. I don't think I'd bother to try them again.

I had eaten here once before and totally enjoyed my meal, so I was eager to try it again, but was totally surprised to find that all the dishes we ordered were really terrible. The warm duck salad was served with the duck cold. After we complained, instead of serving us a fresh version of the order, the kitchen apparently just put the whole dish in the microwave and served it again - they didn't bother to reconstruct it or redo it, but just slopped back down on the plate, no longer resembling the original attractively presented dish we had first been served. It was better warm, but I didn't expect to be served micro-waved salad greens. The rib appetizer was served at room temperature and it too had to be sent back to be heated up; at either temperature, they were totally undistinguished. The marinated fish fillet entree looked old and dry, and was bland in taste. Honestly, every dish was awful, whileas the last time I ate there, shortly after this larger location opened, the food was quite good, and I had been eager to come back. I would add that service was hardly attentive; we could rarely find our waitress just to let her know the problems we were encountering once the kitchen served the food. I would not be quick to eat here again. Too bad. Because if the food was remotely good, it would be a good value.

Disappointed. Food has changed. I've ordered delivery lunch from here for a few years but lately I've notice the food quality has declined. Pad Thai tasted burned, panang curry (a former fave) was inedible, curries have gotten greasy, and very spicy with no other flavor. Jasmine rice was plain white rice!! Spring rolls were still decent, but not enough bring me back. After a few terrible lunches, I will not be back! There's much better Thai in Chelsea!! This place lost its game.

The food at Spice is fantastic, as it has been for the last 7 years I've been going there. Never once had a problem with the food. Occasionally if it's busy, the service is a bit slow. That's the worst I can say about it.

Wow, what an incredible disappointment. Four of us went for dinner around 6:45 tonight, and we were all looking forward to good food and drinks. We received neither, but DID receive some of the worst restaurant service we've experienced in many, many years. Out of the drinks ordered (one bottle of wine, one mixed drink and one Thai iced tea), three came AFTER the starters were served (see below), and the third, the iced tea, was delivered simultaneously with the entrees. Even though we had asked the waiter where our drinks were (and could, shockingly, see them sitting on the bar behind us), he failed to deliver them with any semblance of timing. Our starters included four bowls of tom yum, one for each of us. Three were delivered, one was not. Incredibly, the fourth (mine), was eventually delivered together with my entree. I sent it back. As for entrees, the Thai BBQ chicken was barely warm, the green curry was brown, the red curry was passable and the tilapia was small, uninspired and floating in some indistinguishable red sauce. I finally sought manager intervention. The entire table expressed its concerns about dinner and the barely-there service. The manager's response: comp the mixed drink and iced tea, and one comp desert for the TABLE! Not surprisingly, the check reflected only the comped mixed drink. We sucked up the charge for the iced tea, left the restaurant, and informed several couples perusing the menu outside the restaurant to avoid it at all costs. The all did. The restaurant was certainly not busy enough to warrant such poor service, and although we asked the manager to comp ONLY the wine, he refused to do so. Fool me once, etc., etc.

Nice-looking place with standard Thai menu, so we thought we'd try it. Ordered a variety of appetizers and salads. Sickeningly sweet and greasy - dumplings were old and hardened, not that you could taste anything but sugar (high fructose corn syrup?) and sickening grease. Noise level deafening, though we did get to be regaled with the boring, infantile tales of the self-indulgent jerk at the next table who screamed his irritating tales of himself at his table mates throughout our meal, to make sure everyone could hear him above the general din. Wait staff friendly, but they couldn't improve the revolting food or the atmosphere.

I have been to some of the other Spice locations around the city and have been relatively pleased with the experiences. however, I went to Spice in Chelsea last night and ordered a chicken dish while my friend ordered a shrimp dish. We didn't finish our meals so we asked for the rest to be packed up. Our waitress was slow and careless all night, but when I went to have my leftovers fro lunch today was the topper. Somehow, and for some reason, there was now shrimp in my chicken dish. I'm allergic to shrimp so that was ruined. I just don't understand the logic in that action. I doubt I'll ever go back to that location again.
