Decent food - Hit or miss service
I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for over 5 years. Love the food but continually have problems with the service. Especially with takeout and delivery. I eat at the 8th ave restaurant at least once a week but each time I walk in this place it's as if they've never seen me before. There's absolutely no attention paid to whether you are a long time customer or the guy who's just visiting from Ohio. That lack of attention is never a good thing - for a restaurant, or any business. And it often shows in how frequently one's order is wrong, or how what one orders is not what is delivered. Often times the wait staff or the folks who answer the phone are downright rude. I've sometimes been put on hold for so long that I've hungup and ordered from somewhere else. Spice owners - no matter how popular you may be right now, there will come a time when you will close your doors because you've alienated your neighborhood regulars.

Gratuity Included
Let me start by saying that I've been eating at Spice for years and I've always been very satisfied with their food. However, I just ate here with a friend on Friday night and noticed when the bill came that they added an automatic 18% gratuity! They also failed to inform us up front that they were doing this, and they've never done this in the past. Now I'm a generous tipper, but since when should a restaurant charge an automatic 18% gratuity for parties less than 6?

We Love Our Spice Delivery!
Spice food is excellent. We have been ordering delivery from Spice for 3 years. It is our favorite Thai restaurant and we get delivery from them every week. Love, Love, Love the Red Curry, Massaman Curry, Spice Ceasar Salad, Thai Crepe Rolls, and Black Noodles.

So Rude!
I order Spice delivered because I like one of their dishes, but the service couldn't be worse. I can't believe how rude the waitresses are who answer the phone. They contantly put you on hold without notice and are very short. I promise that tonight's experience was the last time! Terrible. As if we don't have options in NYC.

One of the worst meals I ever had
Who care about cheap when the food isn't fit for human consumption. The food was no good at all. The service rushed. Granted we went late on a Saturday but who takes out the garbage while customers are still eating.I ordered the lemon chicken which taste as if it was cooked 6 hours prior as a different dish, rinsed in lysol, then coated in some random marinade. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Upsetting experience
I walked into the Chelsea restaurant one afternoon and ordered a lunch special + free appetizer and a thai iced tea. Stepped out for a moment and then came back. About two blocks from the rest, I realized the iced tea was missing. I went back. Once I got home, I realized that the rice was missing from the order. I called them to complain and they said they would send someone over. If you're hungry, experiences like these can be very upsetting. Quickly checking the order in the first place would have avoided this altogether. The rice was delivered to me within 10 minutes. They got it on it quickly, but I'm still upset

Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.
The food at spice was nothing if not mystifying. I received 2 hulking slabs of meat when I ordered "Volcano Chicken" (I suppose the name itself should have warned me to stay away), along with some flaccid carrot strips in a cloyingly sweet sauce. The little mountain of rice was too small to make my meal more palatable, and when I asked for more, the waitress glared at me. Spice absolutely fails to make the mark.
