For lunch takeaway...it's great
I work in Chelsea, and the Spice(s) on 8th Ave of fantastic for delivery. If I am unable to leave my desk to grab a sandwich or did not bring my own lunch, Spice is my go-to, default place to order from off their lunch menu. The food is good; it comes warm; they're relatively fast; and the value is solid. In terms of dining in there....It's a small, loud-ish, cramped place. There new second location on 8th Avenue--amazingly close by--is better all around as a venue for eating in.

We had been to Spice once before and they had made us wait 30 minutes for a table, while sitting other people in the restaurant. We chose to give it another shot because we wanted to get out of the heat. Unfortunately, this was easily the most unappetizing meal I have ever had in New York. We ordered the summer rolls, which were basically just lettuce in rice paper with a very sugary sauce. This was the best dish we actually got. Then my boyfriend ordered the duck wraps. This was a gigantic portion of shredded duck and veggies with lettuce. One bite and I needed half a cup of water to recover from the overuse of salt. For our mains, I stuck with an appetizer and ordered the steamed chicken and shrimp dumplings. Well these may have been steamed at one point, but that was before they were fried. The entire meal was a yellow-ish color, including the inside of the dumplings which is not the natural color of shrimp. Finally, my boyfriend ordered the grilled salmon with veggies and brown rice. The salmon was very fishy and clearly a few days old. Not to mention the incredibly salty sauce that was over his entire meal. The brown rice was also over cooked and not tasty at all. I will never, ever go back here

Poorest delivery service I have ever experienced
I eat from here all the time, because the food is great. But while you are there, your food can take up to almost 45 minutes to be served. I ordered from this restaurant 1 hour ago, and the food isn't here. And I live less than 5 blocks away! Great food, poor service.

i thought the atmosphere is great but the food lacked some serious quality. I would not recommend this thai place because i don't feel like it's very authentic.

like a chinese food spot
the food is low in price with huge portions. it's flavorful, greasy and satisfying. this is not upscale thai even though the decor is nice and somewhat romantic. i order takeout, which is fast and theyve never messed up an order. it satisfies a chinese food type craving without being gross like chinese food.

Great Thai food
We always do delivery to our salon, food comes fast and hot and delicious!! Never had problem with them food is cheap, salty? I don't think it's ever been salty ... It does have salt in it so if ur use to no salt just let them know caus the food is amazing, I always get the basil chicken and spring rolls always the same and tasty. :) highly recommend it.

Execellent Value at Lunch Watch out for 236 8th!
There are many Spices in NYC. I have MANY times had the lunch from this location and also had dinner. The lunch is the same food at a fraction of the price. The basil with onions and mushrooms add meat is great as are some of the soups and apps.
