To the last reviewer: You must have been lucky and caught them on a good night. But let me ask you this. It sounds like you must have run up a pretty big tab. Did they offer you an after dinner drink or dessert on the house? I'll be shocked if the answer is yes. Assuming they didn't, wouldn't such a small gesture like that make you feel appreciated and encourage you to come back? But they just don't care enought about customer appreciation and that's what's bringing them down.

After some of the comments below, I have to say I became a little concerned about going back to Spark's for a big celebration dinner with friends. I'm happy to say that we ignored the negative comments. Top to bottom, Spark's is my #1 steakhouse in NYC, and this recent experience just confirmed it. We had an 8:00 reservation, arrived early and were seated early. The wait staff couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. We got shrimp, crabmeat and tomato and onion salad for appetizers, and all were excellent. For mains, we got a sirloin, a filet and a 4 lb lobster, and all were amazing. The steaks were very high quality beef and all cooked to perfection, and the lobster was delicious. The hash browns we got on the side also were great, but you need at least two orders. The only disappointment was the small piece of pie we got for dessert, but it was delicious. The wine list is also superb and full of value as well as outstanding choices. All in all, it was an excellent meal and atmosphere, and I personally don't believe Spark's has lost anything.

Let's put it this way - you can even do better at a chain steak house. Not that I'd go there, but you get the point. The light is out at Sparks. The problem is, they're still pretty crowded so they don't care. Eventually, it'll catch up with them.

The steaks were great, so were the side dishes and the service we had received. Crowded, yes, it was.

with the last few comments. We had dinner here over the holiday season and boy has this place gone downhill from a few years ago. Its overcrowded, hot and the food is just ordinary now and overpriced for what you get. We waited forever for our drinks and the wait in between courses was unbearable. Our steaks arrived just as a slab of meat on a plate, no presentation at all and most of the sides were cold. Nothing special about it either, can get the same steak in a dozen other places. Didnt complain, but should have after seeing the bill was $300.00 for 3. The wait staff needs to smile more....after all they are serving YOU.

The place has become like a high school cafeteria, only louder. Plus, it now seems like all this place cares about is getting the most people in and out, with little regard for making the customer feel appreciated. Other annoyances include, teeny but expensive drinks, no dress code (they'll let any slob in even wearing torn jeans and a tee shirt), and pretty much an indifferent attitude on the part of the wait staff and captains. Once a great steakhouse, now just a hustle.

8 out of 10 of us had steak, some rare, medium rare & well done (god forbid). all the orders did not come out they way we wanted it prepared except the well done, so yeah "well done" for that but poor cooking on the others. BUT, I chose the 3lb lobster & it was prepared to perfection! I also had shrimp coctail - jumbos!! The sides I avoid so not as to get filled up. Svc tho is poor. took forever & 20 min. to get our spirited drinks. Appetizers came out fast but the steaks were poorly delivered. Lucky we were on expense account!
