    miss Spades!!

Spades was my go to place for 5 years- their noodles and meat dishes were flavorful and amazing. It was my favorite Chinese place in town. Tried Wu Liang Ye based on reccomendations on here and wasn't anywhere as good as Spades. Dear new owners of Spades, bring the old Spades back! Ugly interiors and all.

    SEEKING the next SPADES

The old Spades was THE BEST. Great roast pork, great portions. great price. Now we are SCREWED. The new place is absolutely jammed and the quality is simply not worth the aggrivation of sitting elbow to elbow for bland food.

I seriously miss the old Spades

Spades was by far head and shoulders above the rest of the quick. reasonably priced local Chinese take out places. No matter what you ordered, you could expect that it was prepared a few rungs up the ladder from the local competition. The old Spades excelled at Chinatown style roast meats, Wonton in spicy Szechuan sauce, Brocolli in Garlic Sauce, Ginger Chicken (mmmm), Cold Shredded Chicken with Sesame Noodles...and on and on. I always knew this place would deliver a better product. It was the leader (with some competition from Wu Liang Ye) in the East 30s-40s. And I have tried them all. But one day I ordered, and the bag said "Big Bowl Noodles" when the delivery came. I was a little concerned - and the food beared out why. My better than average go to Chinese spot was now ordinary. Argh! The dishes I mention above are not the same anymore. Summed up - new owner/new chefs (?) means blander food meant for a broader audience. Tasting like all the others is not an edge in my opinion. Now I have no go-to. And I miss it.

    New Owner not so good

I used to order from Spade's all the time - everything was always so good. They have a new owner now and the food is not nearly as good. A few months ago I would have highly recommended Spade's, but it has definitely gone down hill. I'm sad to say I won't be ordering from here again anytime soon.

WAS THE BEST DELIVERY, BUT NO MORE

They have a new owner with slightly higher prices which I wouldn't mind as it's really a small increase, but the food is no way on par with what they used to serve. portions are smaller and they taste different.

    I ate it...

The lunch was bland. Its any other Chinese restaurant on any given day. The big strike out came when we received our bill as we were served the lunch. Looking around, maybe half of the customers had their bill but were still eating! There were plenty of tables available so that wasn't the issue.

    Good Food Great Value

Good food Great value. Started with beef dumplings as appetizer...very good. Spring Rolls were a little bland. Ordered sesame chicken...I was a little disappointed in that it was more like General Tso's Chicken...yet good. Vegetarian nooldes were excellent. The dining room fills up fast at lunch...but promptly seated. Pushed a little on making a decision on ordering. I would highly recommned to others...I know I'll be back soon.
