My favorite
Whenever I'm lucky enough to be "sick" or "working from home", I hit up Soy Cafe with my laptop, gaze amorously out the window to Greenwich Avenue and order a delicious and filling vegan breakfast. It's really nice, especially when the Asian girl who never stops smiling is working!

Long delivery and tiny portions
Had to wait over 50 minutes for delivery when I was told it would take 15-20. When I called after 45 minutes, the lady who answered the phone simply said "On the way" when I asked about my order. Also, my "entree" was tiny. It was literally less than half of regular portions and cost just as much. Upside is that the little bit of food I got tasted very good.

Great Food, but small portions
Dear Soy, Thank you for making such delicious food! It's good, clean & flavorful and consistent so!I live in the neighborhood and order take out from you often.. My only issue is that the portions are a bit on the small side. Please add more beef to the beef and potatoes and tuna & avocado to the tuna bowl. Thank you! Sam

If you love eating out, you'll hate this place.
You've seen the situation on TV before - a guy goes into a fancy restaurant, orders an entree and is shocked to see a plate containing only two slices of beef. This is that place, minus all aspects of fanciness. First off, this place is SMALL, even by NYC standards. There were only about 7 people in the place and it was cramped. I was literally sitting 6 inches from the exit door. Second, we ordered miso soup and kenchin jiru. This miso soup is no better than the ones you get for free with your meal at many other Japanese restaurants, except it'll costs you $4 here. The kenchin jiru is mixed veggies with water and soy sauce. Very bland. I got the Tofu Steak. I love real steak. Give me a 10oz medium-rare ribeye and I'm a happy man. Give me two slices of tofu that's smaller than a slice of my morning toast and I'm not a happy man. My girlfriend got the Spicy Tuna bowl. This was ok. My girlfriend is a very light eater, loves sushi and loves avocado. She wasn't a huge fan of this. I agree that the dishes are not very expensive, but that's because you hardly get any food from it. I have nothing against tofu or soy. I eat plenty of tofu and soy products. Lots of places prepare soy-based foods very well. This is not one of them.

Great class!
We took the sushi making class here and had the most amazing time! The owner was a delight and the class of 6 was wonderful! The food was all very fresh and the restaurant is quaint for a casual dinner. A+!
