Best pan Asian totally vegetarian food in New York
After having passed this place on a bus for so many years, I finally took two friends after the theater and was so blown away with how extensive the menu is and how good everything was. Being vegan, I've tried a lot of places in New York, but Soy and Sake is really exceptional. The amount, variety and quality of what you get for the price far exceeds what you pay in local establishments for bland unhealthy food. Wonderful selections well prepared like the Bento box that has several different samples, and the soy rock shrimp or soy chicken curry, plus the great service, warm unpretentious atmosphere makes it a place to return often. Best to go with a few people so you can order several dishes. Oh, and they also have great vegan desserts like carrot cake, brownie bottom cheesecake or death by chocolate. Can't beat that.

Great Lunch
I was unsure of what to think when ordering the Teryaki lunch, especially when it was accompanied with veggie sushi. BUT I was completely satisfied by the large portions and great taste. Also- the service was quick and friendly. I will definitely go back!

It's vegetarian!
Soy and Sake is a vegetarian restaurant. The sushi rolls are made using soy not fish. I think the rolls are incredible!

Most disappointing sushi
I have used Menupages countless of times and have never felt a necessity to rate the places i've chosen ..... until now. most disappointing sushi i have had in NYC. And I have had A LOT. Ordered a tuna/avocado roll and a spicy salmon roll - simple. Instead what I have gotten I cannot even explain. Instead of a fresh chunk of red tuna in my roll there was some sort of a gray minced substance. Did not look or taste like tuna. Same for the salmon - weird minced substance - did not taste like salmon. I couldn't figure out if it was cooked and grounded with something of a white color or WHAT was going on but the taste was not good. I could not eat it and wound up throwing the food away. The spicy mayo had a weird taste to it as well - I have NEVER out of the maybe thousands of time I had sushi, EVER encountered whatever what was put in those rolls. Will not go here again.

great, but
loved the food and atmosphere, but just seems a little bizarre for to have vegetarian salmon roll (which was delish) and meatballs and spagetti on the same menu!! nevertheless, everything i've tasted was great!

Ideal Vegetarian Cuisine
The lunch specials are INCREDIBLE, offering great value and delicious options. I highly recommend the Crispy Chicken sandwich or the Peking Ribs with Broccoli.
