    Decent, but obviously doomed

On Sunday afternoon, when all of the bars and restaurants in the neighborhood were overflowing with patrons, Southern Hospitality had plenty of open space. Bad sign. The bar had tabasco brand bloody mary mix; didn't even make an effort to make a mix -- but the pour was generous. The food tasted good, and the portions were generous, but nothing was cooked to order, and apps and entrees arrived all at once. When I asked to have the entrees AFTER the apps, the response was, and I quote, "That's how we do." Seriously? That's service? And the b & t crowd who came in "looking for JT" did not help the ambience, lol.

    Not so hot

We went this past Saturday for a friends birthday, the waitstaff and hostesses were all very nice and friendly and we were seated right away (we had reservations). The atmosphere was nice but I didn't get the outfits the waitresses were wearing (College T-shirts) We were pleasantly suprised that the menu wasn't outrageously priced but the food itself wasn't so hot...literally. There were 8 of us who ordered and within a matter of 10 minutes our food was brought out to us, normally this would be great but you could tell the food was cooked earlier and then heated up because my pulled pork platter was lukewarm. I don't know about you guys but I like my food cooked fresh, I don't go out to eat leftovers.

    Please save your money

I went here the other night expecting some good BBQ. It seems authentic upon first glance, but once we sat down it went rapidly downhill. We had soggy chicken fingers which were advertised as "crispy chicken fingers." They were not cooked to order and came out partially warm and chewy; not a good combination. The mac and cheese was oily yet okay, but then again anything smothered in three pounds of melted cheese tastes good. The ribs were boring and expensive. The waitstaff was inexperienced and snobby. Overall I could not wait to get out of there.

    needs new management

My husband and I went last night to celebrate his 30th birthday. Of all the places in the city to go, we chose Sothern Hospitality because we LOVE their ribs. We were TURNED AWAY. Not even allowed to WAIT for a table. Even after I informed the hostess that it was his 30th birthday she simply said, "sorry we overbooked". This place needs help. We would have happily stood at the bar and enjoyed some drinks for as long as it took to get a table but it appears they are not interested in making their customers happy. Not only that, but there were a number of empty tables around. It's not the first time that happened. A few weeks ago we went in and were told it would be a 25 minute wait. As we proceeded to wait for those 25 minutes we observed at least 8 tables sit empty for the entire time. We went back of course because we love the BBQ...after last night's experience though it may have been our last. JT...you need new management!

True Southern Girl that LOVES this place

So I was born and raised in the deep South and I now live on the UES near SH. I have been there several times for dinner and have been very impressed everytime. The fried chicken is TO DIE FOR and the beef ribs are HUGE and wonderful. Since I went right after they opened, they have changed some things but it has def. been for the better. They added some more desserts and changed some things around but it has remained a fun place to eat with friends (especially those that visit me from the South). I can personally tell you that the bar scene is out of this world. Don't know his name but there is a HOT bartender that sets the bar on fire and entertains like nobody's business. It is always packed when I walk by on Fri/Sat nights and I went there last Sat for the LSU game and it was such a great atmosphere. I felt like I was tailgating at home with my friends. Soooo, all the being said, not sure what these other folks are talking about but you should go see for yourself that Justin & Co. are doing it right.

    He brought sexy back...

and it tastes like chicken. My friends Terri and Vickie and I visited NYC for the very first time last weekend, and were super excited to try out JT's restaurant. We even made reservations. For 3 NYC virgins, finding places was a challenge, but this was exactly where we were told, and had no problem finding it. We sat outside, which was awesome though a bit chilly. The Manhattans warmed us up real quick and we ordered dinner. It took hardly any time at all to get to our table, and that was a fantastic meal. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy, the cheese mashed potatoes were heaven, and those were the best greens i have ever put in my mouth. The biscuit was dipped in the gravy and if i couldve licked my plate and not looked like a country bumpkin visiting the city, i would've. The prices were very reasonable, i expected it to be so much higher since we were in NY after all. The service was great, our server was very friendly, and another server was more than happy to take a picture of us enjoying our drinks. A great experience and the perfect end to our very first day in the Big Apple.

    Great place!

I don't know what everyone is talking about...I went to dinner there last night with 11 people and we all loved it. We had reservations so there was no wait, the service was great and the food was amazing. The portions are huge and everyone had something different ( fish, memphis style ribs, baby back ribs, rib sampler, wings, salad, mom's fried chicken, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, nachos with pulled pork(you have to have to try this), burgers)and loved it. I would recommend going there its a great place!
