    Southern Hospitality not so Hospitable

I was at Southern Hospitality this weekend for a friend's birthday party. Upon ordering our first round of drinks the bartender was a little rude. We ignored it and continued celebrating our friends birthday. We eventually decided that we would order some food and sat at a table by the window. We asked the waitress for menus. About a half hour later my friend stepped outside and grabbed a few to go menus so we could figure out what we wanted. The waitress finally walked by again and I asked if we could order food. She asked (with a complete attitude) if we had a tab at the bar and we advised her no. Then she proceeded to tell us that we would have to order everything from her and couldn't go to the bar anymore. I'm thinking ..fine we are at a table and want food. Then with more attitude says "What do you want" at this point I said I'll go across the street and get pizza. She cheerfully said ok and walked away. I've never in my life had such horrible service at a restaurant and I will NEVER return! From what I've heard the food is terrible anyway, but we never got to try it. So if you want to go to a restaurant where the staff doesn't want to serve you.. by all means.. go here.. I'll save my money for a place that actually wants it.

    Not worth going

Uninteresting place with mediocre food. I've never before had such bland barbecue.

    A Slight Notch Above Average

Brother Jimmy's right across the street may actually have the same kitchen as this place for all I know. The ribs have a slightly smokier taste to them that BJ's, and the sides are much better, although everything seems to have pepper on it. Not a bad thing for me, but I can't imagine everyone wants a coating of pepper on everything they eat. The place at times can be really dark, and it doesn't have the all out college vibe of BJ's. All in all pretty good, but if you want authentic BBQue, you may have to venture out of the UES.

    Great food

Try the BBQ ranch sauce with everything... BBQ nachos and chicken fingers are amazing. Ribs are fair.

    Great fun & food

After waiting almost two years to try, we've become regulars at SH. The food is very good with great service. Splitting and appetizer and the King's Combo is more than enough for two. We've rarely had to wait (table for 2) more than 5 minutes for a table. But we know not to go if there is a game/event on TV...it brings in the crowds.

A good home away from home.

Being from the midwest, I enjoyed the large mugs of beer (32 oz for $10) and country music. I went with a group of four and we had a wonderful experience. I tried a little of everyone's food and I enjoyed each dish. I had the Cobb Salad, which was quite scrumptious (though would not be worth the $15 price tag had I been anywhere else in the country). The fried pickles and dip, french fries with cheese (custom order, which they were happy to do), and wings were all delectable. The server was attentive and helpful.

    Average

Average bar, average atmosphere. It's a trypical bar with typical bar food focusing on BBQ. It's a good place to go watch a game and grab some grub. Nothing spectacular, nothing awful. Be prepared to wait for a table if going for a prime game.
