Let me start this by saying I'm a white guy who is not an expert on Chinese food. I don't know all the secret Flushing spots, though I'm not a General Tso's white bread guy either. Went to this place on a Saturday at 9pm, made a reservation for 10 people, that soon ballooned to 13. When we got there the host said he thought I had made the reservation for the following day, which made me nervous, but said 10 minutes and had us seated in 15 (I was pretty impressed). The ambiance is not 'nice': it's not cozy, it's not quiet or romantic, but who cares? The highlights for me included the soft shell crab (we got three orders it was so good), some kind of baked squid - i want to point out that all the items on the menu that say 'baked' are actually fried - an amazzzzzzzing baby bok choy with garlic (cooked perfectly, so simple yet so good), baked pork chop. Now I know I said I'm not a general tso's kind of white bread, but we did order one (I think the name might have been spelled a little differently) and it was amazing. The analogy I'd make would be if you'd only had taco bell all your life and suddenly came upon an authentic taco truck or mexico city style taco from hecho en dumbo or la superior. Delicious, kitschy, and pretty reasonably price (11 dishes, 2 rounds of tsingtaos came out to $25 a person w/ tax and tip). Definitely coming back
