    Delish!

If you are hungry and you simply want some Caribbean food in the neighborhood dont think twice the food is great. The portions are immense and its been pretty consistent each time i order. The first time i ordered was via delivery and the second time was a walk in. If you decide to to dine in you will most likely be underwhelmed by the venue, its tacky and boring but nonetheless the food is great.

Was a little skeptical at first but...

Boy was I pleased. I am very fussy when it comes to food especially Caribbean food, but this food was awesome! Before going to the restaurant, I read some reviews on Yelp and this website to get an idea of what to expect. Most of the reviews were not as positive as I expected. We arrived at the restaurant around 10pm on a Saturday night. The place was empty but I am assuming it was because of the time at night and the fact that this restaurant does not serve liquor at this time (they are working on getting their liquor license). Our server who was very friendly greeted us. She asked us if we had a Groupon or living social coupons, which we did. I am assuming there is a special menu for customers with coupons. There were many options on the menu to choose from including vegetarian dishes and pasta. For the appetizer, we ordered codfish cakes, which were ok, not bad. For the main entree, I ordered curry chicken with rice and peas and mac & cheese. My husband ordered grilled salmon with mac & cheese and string beans. All I can say is Yumm, Yumm, Yumm!!! Everything was delicious. The food was very well seasoned and the fish was nice and juicy. There was also a very generous portion served. For dessert, I believe there were five or six choices. We ordered the red velvet cake and carrot cake. We took those to go because we were so stuffed. Overall, everything about the food was great. The only thing I would change about the restaurant is the ambiance. Maybe put some Caribbean music on to get you in the mood, light the candles that are on the table and maybe add a few more foliage to create an island atmosphere. I would definitely return to this restaurant and recommend it to friends.

I can't believe how disappointing this place was! I purchased a groupon for this place which included an appetizer, two entrees and two desserts for $20. I was all about it. I checked out the menu online and I thought...this place is going to be great! Talk about a let down. We get to the spot and it was pretty warm in there with no AC. We sit down anyways and once we got the menu we noticed that it looked nothing like the menu that was online. It had half the options. Then we were told that they had a busy weekend and they only had vanilla cupcakes...Hmmm...We should have walked out the door then, but I still had the Groupon and didn't see myself traveling back this way again. Food came, appetizer wasn't that disappointing, entrees came and the food tasted old! The most disappointing Mac and Cheese I ever had. We get the cupcakes and they were strawberry not vanilla and they tasted like cardboard sprinkled with sugar.

I purchased a discount ticket for this via livingsocial.com and went with a friend of mine. We were both excited to go. I was horribly suprised at the venue. The food options were not that great either. One of the waitresses was friendly and of course ours was not and barely paid attention to us. Let me say that the ONLY reason that i ate my meal was because i had not had breakfast or lunch and was starving at that point. My friend barely touched her meal, we were there for nearly two hours and that last 90 mins we were the only two customers at no point did either of the 2 young ladies, nor the owner/manager that walked in at some point ask my friend why her food sat there untouched. It was just a totally disappointing experience. I've had good carribean and good soul food, this place offered neither and the ambiance left a lot to be desired. They need to get better customer service training. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

    Can u Say- Deeelicious! : )

I will get straight to the point- mmmmm- mmmm good. I went with my boyfriend and I believe we both enjoyed the food! I am still full rt now lol. What I appreciated was how kind the host/waitress/cashier was. We got a complimentary glass of wine to start. he definitely enjoyed his oxtail, mac n cheese, collard greens, & rice n peas. Oxtail were very tender, sauce was perfect and I don't even like oxtails but I sure had some of his. They have this pineapple type spread which was great on the corn muffins. The sample platter appetizer was awesome! We usually don't like to eat cod fish but they had a cod cake on the sampler which was tasty. I absolutely loved the cat fish strips and the jerk wings, and barbeque wings. The collard greens were good too, just add a lil hot sauce. I also had the curry coconut shrimp, spicy but very good. I can honestly say I don't have anything bad to say about this place. The prices were reasonable- we spent $50, got alot of food, enough to take a doggy bag. Me and my BF love to eat lol so we know good food and Soule had some good food! I will definitely be returning for some more cat fish and greens etc etc. lol I got the itis now bout to pass out ..

Caribbean Soul = Not so good

My boyfriend and I went to this spot for Dine-In Week. When we entered the restaurant, the owner (well she appeared to be the owner) greeted us with a smile and asked if we were here for Dine-In Week. She told us to have a seat anywhere. The restaurant was clean and my first impression was that the place was nice and quaint. The owner then brought out one menu for us to read. I think I overheard her say something along the lines of “She didn’t have all the menus printed yet”. Okay, fine. I still wasn’t judging. Funny thing is one of the diners that was already seated overheard her tell us about the “special dine-week menu” and he said “Oh there’s another menu?” I thought that she should have made people aware that this week was Dine-in week especially since they were participating. Now let’s talk about the food. I ordered the chicken-teriyaki with steamed broccoli and rice and peas for dinner. My boyfriend had jerk-chicken for his appetizer. Sounds good right! I guess it would sound good to people who were not us. We actually had to eat it! My chicken was very salty. The pepper was very robust. The overall taste was just too much for me to bear. My boyfriend commented and said that his jerk chicken tasted very old. I mean for 2 for $25 I guess they figured they would just go in the back of the refrigerator and get old food and feed it to us. Upon leaving, the owner never uttered the words “Thanks for coming? Or how was your meal?” She just sat at one of the tables (which she sat at the whole night) and typed on her computer with paperwork scattered about. I would not go there for a date again. So 2 out of 5 stars for me.
