I was looking forward to a basic catfish and bread today, but ended up with the meal. It came with 2 sides and a cornbread wedge. This by far was a great value for the money in midtown. Yet the fish had a rubbery texture that comes from being frozen and rush cooked. Sides here are excellent. Found the cornbread wedge disappointing. Maybe if it was hot and dripping with butter I would have said it was perfect.

I get all these emails for different types of food. I can usually get five or six people from my office to accompany me on my adventure. I saw a picture of the menu, the fried chicken looked perfect, the Jerk chicken looks like it is off a plate from Jamaica, oh it was quite impressive looking. by the time I finished email some immediate co-workers, Eight of us order. I complete mix of everything so we can share and sample the food. How do you disappoint 8 people. None of us want to go back. The chicken was inedible, the yams were a baked potato less the cinnamon and nutmeg and butter, the mac and cheese was the strangest color orange and there were no collard Greens or potato salad. The fish was awful and the salad was iceburg lettuce and unripe tomato. we had no salad dressing or the salad, no tarta sauce for the fish, no hot sauce for the chicken, the list goes on. I was so embarresed. I feel like I owe them lunch for letting me talk them into this. we had a $70.00 bill and I gave him a $10.00 tip for delivery. Never again. We sampled a lot on the menu and nothing, not even the corn bread was good, and that didn't come with butter. misleading , disappointed.

I ordered fried catfish, collard greens, and mashed potatoes with gravy. I received - breadcrumbed and baked catfish that taste like a horrible fish stick - soured tarter sauce that had turned into separated vinegar and yellowish oil - canned collard greens that were so vinegary I had to have my trash removed from my office cause the smell was overwhelming - box mashed potatoes and a side of canned chicken gravey. - cornbread that taste like a piece of yellow cake that was cooked too long. I can not believe this experience and how poor the food was. I am from Ohio and I could have made a better meal.

Soul Fixins is a great take out restaurant if you love good soul food. As hard as it is to find a great soul food place in the city to grab a meal, Soul Fixin's is definitely the anwer to this problem. I've been eating here for years since they were on 34th Street. Good to see they are continuing the trend!

I've never dined in this restaurant but I've had their delivery a number of times. They are always prompt and the order is always correct. Regarding their food. Their price is not only right but might be considered a steal with the portions. Excellent little splurge for lunchtime.
