    Worth the visit.....

It's been a few years since I dined at Sotto Voce. It was nice to be back. I ordered the Lonza Di Maiale Ripieno: stuffed boneless loin of pork with spinach, prosciutto and mozzarella in a red wine mushroom demiglaze. served with sautéed spinach. My friend had the Salmone In Crosta: salmon wrapped in potato crust on a bed of spinach with a light mustard sauce. We shared the Torta Di Pera Con Gelato Di Nocciole pear tart served with hazel nut gelato with decaf cappucinos. Our server brought us complimentary port to go with the dessert. The portions were large and overall very well prepared. I prefer a bit more spice, but I still very much enjoyed my meal. Dining al fresco was appealing, albeit the noise from within the restaurant can be a bit challenging. Overall- definitely recommended.

    what do you want?

For 12.95, at brunch, unlimited champagne, some great food, coffee and dessert. It was packed but everyone was very nice. It's worth the trip from Manhattan where the same deal would cost you 25.

    simply not Italian

I went there a second time, and I have to agree with my Italian friends. The food is so mediocre. I can,t even rate value, because I don,t care if the dish is inexpensive. It makes no sense. Its a cute place, but get a chef that can make Italian dishes. Like another reviewer said just get a jar of aunt millies and a pack of barilla and stay home. To me, something only has value if its good, no matter how big the portion!

    Don't bother

I have friends visiting from Italy and they wanted to try Italian food in New York. I took them to Sotto Voce based on reviews i read online. The place is cute but the food is sub par. the organic salad was good but its hard to get lettuce and tomatoes wrong. My friend had a chicken entree that he said tasted like Chinese food not Italian. my other friend had grilled chicken which was exactly that, bland, no flavor chicken from the grill. I had fusilli primavera. it was made with vegetables, oil and garlic... if there was oil and garlic on it, i never saw it or tasted it. Italian food is always over priced in NYC and Sotto Voce is no different. Stay home and boil a box of Barilla and save your money.

    stuffed

stuffed in like a sardine, food was salty, saucey and yes, inexpensive. but what's the point! I would rather pay alittle more and be able to enjoy . I will not return

    Good Under Pressure

Me and my friends stopped here New Years Eve - without a reservation. The manager was very accommodating, even though they were obviously packed. After waiting 30 minutes we were seated - not bad on a busy night. The waiter came over promptly, took our drink orders and introduced us to the specials. How he did this so calmly and unhurried I'll never know. The martinis were perfect and our appetizers came in a timely fashion. The calamari was light as air, the special clams oreganata were crispy on top and tender and juicy inside. The meatball side we ordered was traditional like mom's and the crabcakes were golden brown and packed with crab. Our Entrees were perfect - the lobster was fresh and moist, the filet mignon was tender and medium rare, just like we ordered it. One friend had the Fettucini with chicken and loved it. I nabbed a taste of the Veal her partner was eating and it was tender and tasty. I was pleasantly surprised that everything was done so well on a crazy night like New Years Eve, but they pulled it off with ease. I can't wait to go back.

    Best Choice in the Slope

I really love this place. With all the restaurants opening (and closing) in the area, it's nice to see this little trattoria still producing the great food that it has for years. The pasta is always al dente and the sauces rich and tasty. Delivery is good, but eating here is relaxing and enjoyable. The manager is always friendly and charming and the staff is consistently good. Try the spinach pesto - it's to die for.
