Wow.
Absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back. The service was great, despite the full house. The atmosphere is pleasant, modern and upscale, but comfortable. However, the food is really the star here- rich and full of flavors. Amongst the gross-looking buildings of Chinatown/ LES, Sorella is a true hidden gem.

In the dark
It's so dark that they should supply flashlights to read the menus. The tiny flames on the tables are completely ineffectual. What's the point? Atmosphere? A small lamp you could hold the menu under would maintain the cave-like darkness. The food is very good, but the pasta portions are offensively small for $15 -- smaller than many half portions I've had. But it's the inability to even see -- much less read -- the menu that will keep me away in the future.

Salty
Nice space, friendly staff, amazing cocktails. Food is quite pricey and over salted. The owner chef is stunning.

Not worth it
Went here Friday on a date and will definitely not be back. The food was ok, but the portions were incredibly small. I was shocked by how small the cheese portions were (literally half a crumb of cheese per $6 portion) and when I tried to speak to the waitress about it they were incredibly rude. There are so many great places in NYC- I definitely won't be returning to Sorella.

Fantastic Italian food
Amazing food and great service... the breadstix and pastries will leave a very good impression.

Best wine bar/small plates in NYC
Just visited from the west coast and found this hidden jewel in the LES. Not only is the wine selection amazing but the bottle markup is much more reasonable than any Italian list I have seen out west. The food was on point and portions are perfect for myself and my guest to try several items. I particularly enjoyed the Gnocchi which were the smallest I've ever seen and perfectly cooked. Cant wait to go back and try it again!!

not bad for a first start!
went there because my friend knew the chef. found the atmosphere hip modern but not overly annoying. food was on average good, a little too heavily dominated by pasta for a small plates menu for my taste. most of the pastas were real tastey fresh. favorite was tajarin and rissoto. most dishes a lil heavy on the salt. some of the better pasta i have had outside italy. a little pricey for what you get in terms of quantity. interesting and tasty wine selection. i looked later and saw they normally have 2 course entree which was not offered when we were there so i am not sure wassup with that. overall would check out again as it is brand new and see what evolves.
