Im a fan of sophie's food (the spicy grilled and the fried pork chops are my favorite!) and of their Batidos (passion fruit) i go to the location on 40th all the time, and im very happy they are coming closer to where i live! now i can have it for lunch and dinner!

i always get the cuban sandwich, and it is always delicious. savory and huge, it's better than most other places i've had it.

I don't know if this is authentic Cuban food, but it is still really good. The one thing is, it can be salty sometimes, so watch for that. There are 3 locations that I know of -- Chamber street, New Street (near the Bowling Green train station) and midtown Manhattan. You get a large portion for a decent price ($8), but go early or go late because it is madness from noon to about 2pm.

Food is wonderful, very authentic Cuban cuisine...however, service is not good...take out is a nightmare.

Prices went up recently- No problem- we can deal with that but now they're only providing the green sauce to deliveries and eat in customers? So I trek a mile just to get Sophie's and instead get some red tabasco tasting sauce? Not good.

Their food is to die for! The maduros in the winter time aren't as soft as in the summertime, but they still taste great! I love their ropa vieja. The place is always crowded! hat's a good thing because you know now that the food is delicious. Sometimes the line is out the door. Their delivery service is speedy!! Try it, what are you waiting for....

And little wonder. We don't know how they manage so efficiently with the crowd but they do. Enormous amount of food. One selection would easily have been enough for both of us. The fried pork chunks were cooked as well as in Miami though the pork itself was inferior. We had learned to love Cuban fried pork after a few days in Miami. Garlic shrimp was excellent. Great place.
