Very disappointed. Bad service, cold food, the leather on the seat was broken. The only thing good was the music. Not comming back. If you want an excellent cuban restaurant go elsewhere.

Vibrant atmosphere - live band, upbeat latin music, talkative crowd - make this a fun restaurant scene. Margaritas are authentic (strong and real lime juice), and menu has a wide variety of interesting latin-inspired dishes. Goat cheese croquettes are some of the best I've ever had! Service is either rushed or painfully slow, but that's classic NYC. A bit on the pricey side, but music, food, and drinks truly make up for it. One of my favorite dining spots in the city.

This can sum up the environment you are entering when you go to Son Cubano. Sitting next to us was a group of 8. 4 men in their late 50's and 4 plastic women all in their 30's. In the middle of dinner, a woman straddled her boyfriend (none were married) and started visciously making out. It was something I expect to see from a 16 year old couple. The atmosphere is wild it is loud. The music is fun. The food is good. Overall, go here if you want a loud, raucous environment.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. We had great service and the food was excellent. We tried a few tapas items to share and all had sandwiches. I had the steak sandwich which was delicous. We all had magaritas, which were great. A great lunch in a very cute place!

We were a group of ten. Five of us showed up at ten forty five and the rest at eleven. We wait an hour and fifty min. to get in. They keep giving us an excuse about clearing out talbes but what they were realy doing was rating who got in who didnt. Once we got in it was very full and tight. We had a good time but the wait outside was just to long for a place that small and not that great.

I made the mistake of making a reservation here for 14 people. The reservation was for 9:30. My whole party was there by 9:15, but we were not seated until after 10. At 10 when they tried to seat us (half an hour late) I realized they were trying to squeeze 14 people into a table for 10. I complained and they added another table. I suggested that they give my guests a drink on the house for the wait. We had a $70 a head pre-fixed menu (which is far from a bargain) set up, so they were making $980 + tax and tip from us. They brought over three pitchers of sangria and then charged us for two of them. This is not a place for large groups. You are better off going with a small group and ordering off the menu. The food is good and the atmosphere is cool, but the service is not worth the headache.
