Fun dance spot but average restaurant

Was welcomed in by very nice hostesses and served by an attentive bartender while we waited for the rest of our group. The place is beautifully-decorated and featured a live band. The band was good, though several people in my group complained that the volume was too high to maintain a conversation. Dinner started with a waiter opening and pouring several bottles of water for our large party before asking if we preferred tap. Underhanded, but a great gig for them at $8/bottle (as we found out at the end). The food was fairly good, with the starters being more memorable than the main course. The croquettes (both potato and crab) and the octopus were great.. I definitely had much better paella, particularly value-wise, but here you're paying for the ambiance more than the food. My companions liked the steak and pork dishes. The waiter kept forgetting our drinks, and while I normally tip well, I felt he did not deserve the mandatory 20% tip included for large parties. I was also surprised to find a 16% tip automatically added when I bought a round of shots with a credit card at the bar, later in the evening. I didn't mind, as the bartender was good, but found the practice unusual. Late in the evening the place turns into a fun dance spot, with music alternating between Spanish and pop hits.

    New location

I really enjoyed my experience at the new son cubano. The staff is very welcoming and the drinks amazing, they had a live band on the night I went - it was nice. The crowd is young and hip filled with professional ppl.
