We stumbled upon Sojourn this summer and since then have gone back many times - we first went on a weekend just us 2 and it was great! The service was impeccable and the food delicious as were the wine and drinks. We have since come back with other couples as well as with friends for dinner as well as drinks only and always were beyond impressed! (BTW I don't know what UES is referring to re service and reservations and this being Stanton originally as this was never the case). We will continue to come and recommend to all our friends and neighbors - a gem in the neighborhood! And the menu changes every month with some signature dishes which keeps it new but always very tasty!

    Love the Atmosphere!

I live in the area and passed Sojourn a few times - it was always busy, so I decided to give it a try! I love the dark & romantic atmosphere with lots of wood and rich fabrics. I only had drinks at the bar. The service was great, and my coctail and wine were very good. Lots of people were eating in the dining room, when I go back, it will be for dinner.

    OMG great wine

On my way after work I passed a place that used to be this wierd mexican joint and noticed that it had changed. (Believe me you can see the difference with the white sheer curtians hanging from out side). I went in to check it out and really enjoyed my time. The bar tender is supper cute (I think he is from South Africa) and the staff knew about their wines. and since I love wine i was very happy to sip my Old vine Grenach and watch the night go by. I got to try some of the food and it was just up my alley small plates and great to share. Although they were so good i probably wouldn't let anyone eat my plate. Its a great addition to the neighborhood and honestly its nice not having to go downtown on a rainy day

Great Food But Not Coming Back

I began coming to this restaurant when it was still Stanton...and LOVED IT! Great service and an eclectic mix of food that worked. Love the butternut squash ravioli and the frisee salad. That said, I find the staff now has major tude (not the waitstaff, but the hostess and managers - also, since when are waitresses terrified to ask the chef for anything other than what's on the menu (AND I MEAN TERRIFIED) ...they will no longer take reservations for less than parties of 6. Unfortunately, despite the fabulous, mouthwatering food, I won't come back. I'm looking for a relaxing meal, not self important waitstaff and owners/managers who think they are doing you a favor for letting you dine there with absolutely NO concept of "customer service". A shame, because I was introducing all my friends to this funky place.

I'm not one to write reviews but Stanton is a welcome addition to a neighborhood saturated with frat bars and stale, overpriced stand-bys. The owners did a wonderful job renovating the space and have created a chill, downtown vibe. The staff and bartenders are very personable and welcoming. Now about the menus ... there is a very nice wine list, though we opted for cocktails. The bartenders are very creative and pour a solid drink. The menu has a great variety of options and it was hard to decide what to choose. And I'd be remiss not to mention that the price points are realistic (not unimportant in this economy). We thought the portions would reflect that, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We started out with the grilled calamari with cannelli beans. Totally shareable with 4 nicely sized pieces ... could even suffice as dinner for one person. That was fabulous and we eagerly awaited our entree, a skirt steak over scallion fried rice. Perfectly size for a meal, or a great share if you just want a little something with your cocktails. The steak came sliced and had an outrageous soy/ginger/pear glaze. Yum! I'm not a dessert person, but they asked us to taste the blueberry cheescake ... it was decadent. Definitely my new fave and can't wait to go back to sample the rest of the menu ... this is a great addition to the neighborhood and it's nice to have a fresh option that caters to a more sophisticated crowd.

finally a place on the UES that is hip looking and has high quality food! a vast improvement over the former low-end mexican places that used to be in the space. the butternut squash pasta is fantastic and crispy artichokes and oysters were outstanding. the wines are great too and the menu changes daily -- so happy that this came to my 'hood. my only complaint that the music is way too loud and too "clubby". don't need to be distracted from the food. start playing some great "dinner-type" music and you are beyond golden.
