A great addition to UES Dining

Sojourn is a delightful departure from the typically stoggy and pricey UES restaurants. The menu's creative assortment of small plates is hard to choose from; every one is delicious. The wine selection is supurb (owner Stanton is a sommelier). The wait staff know their wines, too and advise well. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting with hip kind of flair. All in all, we love the place and go back often. Try it!

    Solid food

Consistenly good food not commonly found on the UES. Sojourn would be much more typical if it were downtown, but on 79th street its a welcome addition. To any of the negative reviews, what alternative do we have if we want to stay in the neighborhood? Highlights for me are the sliders, frisee salad, butternut squash salad, black pasta, and the skirt steak. Not a dessert guy, but the cheesecake is very good, the blueberry topping needs a little work but otherwise a wonderful ending. I generally dont get caught up in price bc its NYC and nothing is reasonable here, but for the money i suppose its decent value.

A Bit on the Salty Side

The menu was interesting ( though what had originally drawn me to the place was now off the menu ( sweet breads). The lamb Bolagnese was very good. The potato gnochi was good but, far too salty. The lamb chops were good but a bit on the fatty side and not properly frenched. The service was great, but, it was a bit too dark, everyone seemed to have to hold a candle up to the menu so they could read it.

    1st time it was better

The first time we were here it was great. This time, not so. The butternut squash salad was good, but my husband thought it was too heavy. The lamb pasta was a very small portion for the money and tasted like Chef Boyardee. The mussels were tasty but not fantastic. The waiter was sweet but inexperienced. Overall, the prices are high for what you get.

    yumm

the food is so great here! our good friend recommended it and now we are recommending it to everyone we kno! i recommend the butternut squash salad, the cheeses are amazing, and the ravioli and sliders are great entrees. we usually just like to share everything tho. the service is ok...the first time we were there and our waitress took 20 minutes to come to our table and it took even longer for our food. but, once u eat the food, it outweighs the poor service. i will say tho, that we have gone there twice since then and it has been a little better. i suggest going a little early, like around 6 or 7, to beat the rush. tables are close together so ur almost eating with the ppl next to u.

    The BEST!!!!

OMG! Their food is amazing! try the butternut squash salad, steak, fried duck rolls and flowerless chocolate cake! Unreal! Have been to this place 3 times in 3 weeks already. Make sure to make a reservation on the weekend and it does get a bit loud. Getts packed really quickly. No wonder!!! The food is soooo good! The wait staff is really nice too.
