My Husband and I were there on Sunday July 27,2008 at around 5Pm. We waited for 5 or so mins. Loved the food ambiance and service. Great wedding anniversary! I know people feel rushed but it is only fair to those people who are waiting and have been waiting for a while. But we would definitely return early enough so we won't have to wait that long even though the food is worth waitning for!

I was at this establishment on Sat, July 19th with two of my friends. The food was excellent! The service was okay...the waiter forgot twice to bring an item we ordered. Also, we were rushed for dessert..wasn't offered coffee or any other beverage with our dessert. We had to call the waiter over to order coffee. While we were eating our dessert the waiter put the check on the table without us asking for the check or asking if we wanted anything else to order. We were taking our time talking and eating dessert and drinking our coffee. We paid when we finished our dessert but we were still chatting and drinking our coffee. When a gentlemen who appeared to be the manager came up to us and said that if we had ever been to their resturant beforehand. He proceed to explain that they will have a live band later on that night and that he wasn't asking us to leave but that for us to consider a change of ambiance. He politely said, "Am suggesting a change of ambiance since you finished eating so that you can give other people who are waiting a chance to eat". You can always come and enjoy the live band at 11:30 pm.. meanwhile it was 8:30 pm. At first he seemed like he was being polite and inviting us to his establishment again but we soon realized he just politely asked us to leave...I thought that was rude and I've never experienced that in any resturant. We were only talking for about 10 minutes after the check was collected we were going to leave a little before the manager approached. We were just admiring the atmosphere and talking about the good food. We felt like they were just trying to squeeze in all the people they can so they can earn more...like a revolving door..hey we know all resturants do that but they didn't need to blantly show us...that's poor customer service! I was there once before and that had never happened to us I was disappointed.

We recently went to Sofrito because so many people talk about this place like is the next best thing since apple pie (if you like apple pie) Anyway, we went on a Monday night because they have a live band from 7pm - 10pm, the band started close to 8pm, for the most part the service was good, our waiter was very nice and the manager was attentive towards everyone but the food was nothing to write home about. Here's my description of the food that was ordered: 1. Octopus salad, not only were the pieces very small it was very bland and too oily. 2. Ropa Vieja, the beef was very chewy and the presentation was a bit on the ugly side (the meat looked like it was literally plopped onto the platenor was the amount of meat porportioned to the amount of rice (too much meat with too little rice). 3. Paella, the [select]ion of seafood was good but the rice was overloaded with peas and wasn't all that tasty. 4. Mofongo w/ Shrimp, not bad. The atmosphere is very loud and on top of that there was an obnoxious group that started drumming their utensils on the plates along with the salsa beat which was very annoying and inconsiderate. I don't know... maybe this was just a bad night.

I was there with a friend last Friday. The portions are large, the pernil was delicious, the rice was actually a bit hard and as for the Sangria, well it was bland. To top it off before we could not even finish our desert they placed the check on the table, didn't ask us if we needed anything else. Two minutes later the manager (seemed to be manager) came over to our table and stated: "I'm so sorry but I must ask you to leave we have a long waiting line and people are waiting for this table. Friday and Saturday nights are like this. " He said this with a smile as if the delivery was supposed to make the blow easier. I would have preferred if he had at least offered us to move to the bar, but it didn't seem like an option - so we just left. Besides having good food you must have good customer service in order to have customers return. If the waiting time for people is going to be so long, perhaps they should have reservations to accommodate everyone, this way there's no rush and if you don't have reservations - well then you can sit at the bar (if there's space of course.) Not recommended for dinner on a Friday or Saturday night.

The food was perfect, The drinks were great, The service was awesome, I highly recommend this place to anyone. I will be going back soon.

The food is absolutely excellent. I recommend the sancocho and pernil. The drinks are also good.

My friend made reservations here for her birthday. Not only did we have to wait for 2 hours (even with reservations), the hostess was rude because 2 of our friends were late. They didn't want to seat us! While waiting, at the bar I had to call the bartender over so I could pay her after she brought me my drink. On top of all of this, they wanted to charge us to share a plate after all the grief they had put us through. We called over the manager, and he tried to slick talk us into why we should pay to share a plate after the wait, bad service and rude hostess. The food was delicious when we finally got to eat, and the atmosphere was nice, though hectic. These people have good food, but need to take some lessons on how to run a restaurant because they're in the SERVICE industry. The point is to make your customers happy, not miserable over bad service.
