Pricey
I know this is manhattan but the same food at almost any deli in the city is about one quarter of the price. Latin people know what rice beans and chicken cost, and this place is basically stealing. Wannabees at the bar, gruff service and high prices gives this Latin food a poor taste!

Arroz con pollo
I am half puerto rican and have had my share of authentic puerto rican cuisine and have to say this spot is authentic as it get. For my bday I got the arroz con pollo and it's better then I've ever had and I'm throwing my grandmothers and other spots in PR into the equation. By far the most flavorful rice I've ever had along with their moist juice chicken with the addition of their piña colada will take you to beautiful island of PR. By far my favorite spot in the city highly recommended. But like all great restaurants in the city it's pricy! But well worth it :)

Good food-loud music
The cavernous but nicely decorated restaurant vibrates incessantly with the sounds of Latin salsa that the mostly Latino clientele do not seem to mind. I found it too loud. However, the food is very good, the portions gargantuan--most everyone walks away with a doggie bag--and the prices excellent.

A big dissapointment
The food was just ok. The waiters rush you and they don't bother to answer your questions. They are overpriced, the drinks are epensive and not that great. I went with a group of people and we felt ripped off. they kill you with gratuities even when you order a couple of drinks that you pick up at the bar yourself not even served by them. for a fancy restaurnat the bathrooms are small and not very attractive.

finished
This spot had a good run but now it is done. Rice and beans with a bit of meat is now $30, and the drinks are watered down. Sofrito is officially over.

Great!
The food is excellent & big portions! My only complaint is not enough stalls in the bathroom & they do kind of rush you. Other than that I had a great time!

Good food
When to a birthday dinner at Sofritos, on 59th and 1st, there were thirty of us. The service was excellent; the food was more than plentifully and very good. I had the steak, with rice and beans and had to take half home. There were about six birthdays party and the staff sang happy birthday one table at a time. The dinner was a little expense cost me over a hundred, but I had a great time, you only live once. The only compliant I had was the rest room is very small and the stall door couldn’t be locked. They need more rest rooms. All, and all I think it was worth it. .
