Great portions and tasty. I'm Dominican and this was as good as mama made it.

While the decor in the dining room is unimpressive and service mediocre, the food is great and it's priced fairly for the neighborhood. Unfortunatley, you have to deal with music that is so loud you can't hear your dinner partners and vice versa. This makes for a totally unenjoyable dining experience. Sofito is trying to be too many things. A bar, a club and a fine restaurant. Management should make up it's mind what they want it to be. This is NY baby. There are lots of clubs and lots of good restaurants! Fellaz if you wanna take your lady for an intimate dining experience, this ain't it! I would stop by for a drink or two sometime but suffering thru dinner under that music again is out of the question.

I don't think Sofrito knows what it wants to be. The food is great however you can get great Puerto Rican food many places in NY for alot less. The service is medicore. I would be okay with the pricing if I could have at least had a converstaion with my dinner partner without yelling. The place is NOISYas in Let's Get Loud!. Not the kind of ambience you expect in a restaurant(or is it a club) on Manhattan's Eastside. We won't be back, at least not for dinner!

The price is right, the food is so generous and the club that it turns into after dinner was a pleasant surprise.

I know this is manhattan but the same food at almost any deli in the city is about one quarter of the price. Latin people know what rice beans and chicken cost, and this place is basically stealing. Wannabees at the bar, gruff service and high prices gives this Latin food a poor taste!

I am half puerto rican and have had my share of authentic puerto rican cuisine and have to say this spot is authentic as it get. For my bday I got the arroz con pollo and it's better then I've ever had and I'm throwing my grandmothers and other spots in PR into the equation. By far the most flavorful rice I've ever had along with their moist juice chicken with the addition of their piña colada will take you to beautiful island of PR. By far my favorite spot in the city highly recommended. But like all great restaurants in the city it's pricy! But well worth it :)
