I was fortunate to stumble on this website and relied on the comments of previous diners before trying Sofrito. All of the adoration of the reviewers on Sofrito were accurate. The food, especially the empanadas, is outstanding. In addition, we had appetizers, martinis and two entrees for less than $60.00, which is rare in the city. I travel to NYC once a year and will make Sofrito and yearly pilgramage.

I've been to Sofrito two weeks in a row. Thats how great this restaurant is. First of all the atmosphere and the ambiance is wonderful. The layout is superb and it just looks great. Secondly the staff here is outstanding, especially Iman who is the manager. She made my dining experience complete. She is very warm, personable and very accomodating. I also met the owner's Jimmy and JR and they are wonderful as well. The food is delicious, from the empanadas to the pernil. And the drinks are great to. It's a dining experience that should not be missed. Sofrito just got another faithful customer.

A group of us dined at Sofrito's for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I have to admit it was great! The music, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The whole place is very ultra chic. The Bar which is about 100 feet long (which makes it easy to obtain drinks we thought:) has different colors vibrating from within the wall shelves where the bottles of liquor are kept. Some would even say it is somewhat romantic & cozy. The owners and service where very attentive to our large party, making sure all was in order with our meals, which we thought was special. And the Puerto Rican dishes are super! We ordered 15-20 different meals and they were all superb! And what was even better was our tab for the night, it was very reasonable. Once you visit Sofrito you will see that thier is no comparison to any other location you will visit in the midtown area. I have revisited with friends and family and we always leave happy. So hope your visit is as enjoying as ours was.

The food here was awesome. We had the house salad and the tostones montaditos (shrimp) for appetizers, both were great! Fish and pork chops for dinner. A couple of drinks and even dessert... the tres leches and the coconut rice pudding ... everything was so good!! The prices are so affordable for the amount of food you get. The only thing that I have to say I was disappointed on was the service of the waiter. While very attentive, he was not helpful. We asked what he recommended or if they had specials for the evening and he proceeded to practically read the entire menu to us, which we could've done on our own. The waiter was not informed on the plates or how they were cooked and what ingredients they had. All in all, I thought this place was great and will be going back soon.

Simply to die for! The food was delicious, the drinks were perfect, and the atmosphere was super modern yet cozy. My friends and I cannot wait to return! Also, they have an extra long bar, and a lounge area towards the entrance. It seems perfect to come and relax with a good mojito. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

Our experience at Sofrito was magnificent. We simply cannot wait to return. The flavor is authentic Puerto Rican. Other restaurants try to come close, but fall short. The Sancocho is incredibly flavorful, and absolutely wonderful on a cold New York night. Pick anything from the menu. You can't go wrong. The fried calamares are superb, the steak is tender and moist, the pork chops are humungous and absolutely tasty. You will definitely get your money's worth. I'm about to turn off my computer and go there now...my mouth is watering just thinking about the food there. Are you still reading this? What are you waiting for...see you there!

I just came back from PR and was excited to find that there was an "authentic Puerto Rican" restaurant in town. My husband and I went there and had the best experience. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was superb. This is a "Must Visit" restaurant.
